Removing an app from a device does not stop recurring billing.
First, find out who bills the subscription
The billing provider determines where to cancel. A subscription billed directly by Paramount+ or Max is managed through that service’s account controls. If an app store, TV platform, internet provider, mobile carrier, or another partner bills you, use that provider’s cancellation process instead.
Check Max’s subscription page
On Max, sign in and open the profile menu, then choose Subscription. On a TV, open Settings and then Subscription. The page identifies the billing provider. If you cannot access it, check the charge descriptor on your bank or card statement, or ask your mobile, internet, or TV provider whether it bills for the subscription. Max’s provider listing and cancellation guidance covers routes including Apple, Google Play, Roku, Samsung, and other providers; the available options and steps depend on your location and biller.
Check Paramount+ billing
For Paramount+, start at the account page. If it does not show the relevant billing controls, the subscription may have been purchased through an app store or partner. Paramount’s U.S. terms and subscription-plan guidance direct customers with third-party billing to cancel through that third party.

Cancel a direct Paramount+ subscription
- Go to paramountplus.com/account and sign in.
- Open the subscription or plan controls and follow the prompts to cancel recurring billing.
- Check the account for cancellation status and the date access ends; keep any confirmation email or take a screenshot for your records.
Under Paramount’s U.S. terms, cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period, or at the end of a free trial. Paid access generally remains available until cancellation takes effect, subject to the applicable terms and any refund exception. If a third party bills you, cancel through that provider rather than assuming that deleting Paramount+ or changing your streaming password will stop the payment.
Cancel a direct Max subscription
- Go to max.com/subscription and sign in.
- Choose Cancel Your Subscription and complete the confirmation prompts.
- Note the expiration date shown on the page and retain a confirmation email or screenshot if available.
Max says access continues until the subscription expires at the end of the billing period. If the page has no cancellation option, use the provider it identifies and follow that provider’s current instructions. Deleting the Max app does not cancel your subscription, as Max states in its cancellation help article.

Cancel before the renewal cutoff
Cancel as soon as you decide to stop the service rather than waiting until renewal day. Paramount+ says a subscription renews automatically unless canceled before the next renewal date or before a fully covered trial or promotion ends. The cited Paramount+ guidance does not establish a universal number of hours to cancel in advance, so check the date and terms shown for your account and billing provider.
Max also says to cancel before the next billing date. Its guidance on unexpected subscription charges warns that some providers may require cancellation at least 24 hours before the next billing period begins. That lead time varies by provider; it is not a universal rule for every Max subscription, nor a general Paramount+ cutoff.

Verify cancellation and handle a later charge
After canceling, check the service or billing provider’s account for a canceled status or an expiration date. Save the confirmation if one is sent. If a charge appears afterward, check these possibilities before taking further action:
- The cancellation missed the provider’s cutoff. For some Max providers, the required lead time may be at least 24 hours.
- The subscription is still active. Recheck the status with the company that bills you and complete any unfinished confirmation step.
- A different account has another subscription. Check other email addresses or accounts that may have been used to sign up.
For Paramount+, begin by matching the charge descriptor to the account or provider that billed it. Contact that company about the charge if the account status does not explain it. A bank-card block is not a substitute for canceling the subscription, and these sources do not promise that a post-cancellation charge will be refunded.
