You can stop future billing for Claude or a personal Google AI plan without choosing to delete your account. Cancel the membership through the platform that billed you: Claude’s web or desktop billing settings, its mobile subscription controls, or Google One settings for a Gemini-linked Google AI plan. Claude paid access continues until the current billing period ends; Google lists plan benefits that end when its membership expires.
Before you cancel: check which platform bills you
Start with the place where you purchased the plan. A subscription started on a website may be managed there, while one billed through Apple or Google Play may need to be cancelled in that store’s subscription settings. If you are unsure, check your receipt or the subscription listing in the account that pays for it.
Google’s instructions below apply to personal Google Accounts. Work or school accounts use separate guidance. For an iOS purchase billed through Apple, use Apple’s subscription controls if Google One directs you there.
Cancel a Claude subscription
Claude purchase on the web or desktop
- Sign in to Claude on the web or open Claude Desktop for Mac or Windows.
- Select your initials or name, then open Settings.
- Choose Billing, select Cancel, and follow the prompts.
Anthropic says cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period, so paid access remains available until then. To avoid the next billing-period charge, Anthropic advises cancelling at least 24 hours before the next billing date. See Anthropic’s cancellation instructions.

- If you have removed the app, manage the subscription through the Apple App Store or Google Play subscription controls, depending on which store billed you.
Cancel a Google AI plan used with Gemini
Google manages personal Google AI plan cancellations through Google One settings, even when you start in Gemini.
From Gemini on the web
- Open the Gemini web app and select Settings & help.
- Choose Manage subscription.
- In the Google One settings flow, choose the cancellation option and follow the prompts.
From the Gemini mobile app
- Open the profile or initial menu.
- Select Manage subscriptions to open Google One settings.
- Choose the cancellation option and follow the prompts. If the subscription was purchased through another app on iOS, follow the route to Apple subscription settings.
Google’s Gemini subscription help lists paid benefits that end when the plan expires. Depending on the plan, these can include Gemini Pro chats and features, expanded Google One storage, direct support, member benefits, and Gemini in Gmail, Docs, and other services. Review the benefits shown for your specific membership before confirming; the package varies by plan.

Cancellation is not account deletion
For Claude, cancelling the paid plan and deleting the account are separate actions. If you only want to stop billing, do not choose Delete Account. Anthropic instructs paid users who do want deletion to cancel first, wait until the subscription period ends, and then proceed with deletion. It warns that deletion is permanent and saved chats will no longer be accessible. Read Anthropic’s account-deletion guidance.
Google’s cited cancellation guidance describes ending a Google One membership and the paid benefits that go with it; it does not say that cancelling deletes the Google Account. It also does not provide a comprehensive guarantee that every Gemini conversation or item of account data remains accessible after cancellation. Treat plan cancellation and account deletion as distinct, and check current guidance or your account if continued access to particular chats is essential.
