Buy V-Bucks through Fortnite’s in-game store, Epic Games Store, Fortnite’s web Item Shop, or an official card from a retailer authorized in your region. Epic Games says it does not partner with third-party V-Bucks sellers, and warns that unofficial sellers may take your money without delivering V-Bucks or put your account at risk. Never give a seller your Epic password, payment details, or verification codes.
Which ways to buy V-Bucks are safe?
Epic lists its in-game V-Bucks store, Epic Games Store, Fortnite Item Shop on fortnite.com, and official cards from authorized retailers as purchase routes. Epic’s support guidance is direct: “Epic Games does not partner with any third-party V-Bucks sellers.” An unofficial site, social-media offer, or giveaway page is not made trustworthy by using Fortnite branding or promising a discount.

Epic warns that unofficial sellers may take payment without providing V-Bucks. Sharing account details can also compromise your account. Epic Support says it cannot refund or grant V-Bucks for purchases from unauthorized sellers. There is no published fraud rate in the cited support material, so treat these as risks rather than a measure of how often scams occur.
- Direct purchase: Buy in Fortnite, from Epic Games Store, or through Fortnite’s web Item Shop. Check that Fortnite is signed into the Epic account you intend to use before paying.
- Fortnite gift card: An official gift card adds funds to an Epic account balance; use that balance to buy V-Bucks. Epic says gift cards are sold in physical and online stores, but that does not establish that any particular marketplace listing or seller is authorized.
- Older V-Bucks card: A V-Bucks card redeems V-Bucks directly. These are a distinct, older product; Epic says Fortnite gift cards are replacing them, although legacy cards may remain available in some regions and local stores.
Choose the right card for your account and platform
Fortnite gift cards and V-Bucks cards do not work the same way. A gift card funds the Epic balance, while a V-Bucks card enters a V-Bucks redemption flow. Check the product type, country, and account currency before purchase. Epic requires the gift-card currency to match the currency of the Epic account balance, and card availability and denominations vary by region.

Epic lists in-game purchases, V-Bucks card redemption, and Epic Games Store purchases among the routes for PlayStation and Xbox players. For a gift card, redeem it while signed into the intended Epic account. On Epic’s gift-card redemption page, a first-time redemption promotion was listed at the time of review: one GHOST Monks Outfit per account through December 31, 2026, in regions where Fortnite gift cards are sold. Check the page for current terms before relying on the offer.

Redeem a Fortnite gift card
- Go to Epic’s official gift-card redemption page: fortnite.com/vbuckscard.
- Sign in to the Epic account where you want the funds. If the account is connected to a console profile, verify that it is the correct Epic account rather than relying only on the console username.
- Enter the card details and review the account and currency shown before confirming. The card currency must match the Epic account balance currency.
- After redemption, use the Epic balance to purchase V-Bucks through an Epic-listed store. Keep the card and receipt until the balance appears and the purchase is complete.
Redeem an older V-Bucks card
- Open Epic’s official V-Bucks card redemption flow and sign in to the Epic account linked to the Fortnite profile that should receive the V-Bucks.
- Check that the Epic display name matches the account you use in Fortnite. Enter the card code and select the intended linked platform when prompted.
- Review the account, device, and resulting balance carefully before confirming. Keep the receipt.
- If you select PlayStation or Xbox, Epic generates a secondary code. Enter it into the Sony or Microsoft account linked to the Epic account to finish redemption.
Understand the Nintendo Switch wallet limitation
Nintendo Switch does not support Fortnite Shared Wallet. Epic says V-Bucks bought using Epic account balance can be spent in Fortnite’s web Item Shop or on another connected Shared Wallet platform, such as PlayStation, Xbox, PC, mobile, or cloud gaming. Items bought with V-Bucks appear in the Locker across connected platforms. This distinction matters: a balance bought with Epic account funds may not show as spendable V-Bucks on Switch, even though items you purchase can be shared.

Protect your Epic account while buying
- Use a unique password for Epic and turn on two-factor authentication.
- Never share your Epic password, payment details, or verification codes with a seller or giveaway page.
- Buy cards only from a retailer authorized for your region; Epic’s confirmation that gift cards are sold online and in physical stores is not approval of every listing.
- Keep the receipt and card until redemption and the resulting balance are confirmed.
What to do if V-Bucks do not appear
- Restart Fortnite, then check that you are signed into the Epic account and platform used for the purchase.
- Review your transaction history and confirm which store processed payment. Check whether the balance is subject to Shared Wallet rules, particularly if you are looking on Nintendo Switch.
- If you redeemed a card for PlayStation or Xbox, confirm that you completed the secondary-code step in the linked Sony or Microsoft account.
- Contact the store or platform that processed the purchase. Epic directs PlayStation, Xbox, and Nintendo purchasers to their platform’s support; Epic Games Store purchasers can contact Epic Support.
