Build around the Ryzen 5 7600X by budgeting for an AM5 motherboard, DDR5 memory, a separate CPU cooler, a graphics card chosen for your games and resolution, and a compatible power supply, storage, and case. There is no universally cheapest parts list: local prices, your total budget, and the GPU you choose determine whether the complete system is genuinely affordable.
What the Ryzen 5 7600X requires
The Ryzen 5 7600X is a 6-core, 12-thread desktop processor for AMD’s AM5 socket. AMD lists a 4.7 GHz base clock, boost up to 5.3 GHz, and 105 W default TDP. These are processor specifications, not a prediction of gaming frame rates. See AMD’s Ryzen 5 7600X specifications.
- Motherboard: AM5. AMD lists B650 among the supported chipset families, making a B650 board a sensible starting point when its features and local price fit.
- Memory: DDR5. DDR4 is not the memory type for this platform.
- CPU cooler: Buy one separately. AMD says the processor package does not include a cooler and specifies a cooling solution capable of dissipating at least 105 W; it recommends a premium air cooler for optimal performance.
- Graphics: The processor includes Radeon graphics, but that specification alone does not establish suitable performance for gaming. Choose a separate graphics card based on your games and target resolution if gaming performance is the priority.
AMD’s processor box bulletin states that Ryzen 7000 boxes do not include a cooler and that a cooling solution must be purchased independently. The exact 7600X package SKU listed by AMD is 100-100000593WOF. See AMD’s processor box and cooler bulletin.
Decide what “budget” means before choosing parts
Set a total spending limit and target resolution before comparing components. A budget build is a balanced system, not simply the one with the least expensive processor or motherboard. Spending too much on the platform can leave too little for the graphics card; cutting corners on the power supply or cooling can create other problems.

- The Socket AM5 socket allows processor to be placed on the PCB without soldering
- Ryzen 5 product line processor for your convenience and optimal usage
- 5 nm process technology for reliable performance with maximum productivity
- Hexa-core (6 Core) processor core helps processor process data in a dependable and timely manner with maximum productivity
- 6 MB L2 plus 32 MB L3 cache memory provides excellent hit rate in short access time enabling improved system performance
- List the games you want to play and whether you care more about resolution, refresh rate, or graphics settings.
- Check current local prices for the processor, board, memory, cooler, GPU, power supply, storage, and case. Include any required fans or other parts in the total.
- Compare GPU reviews for the games and resolution you care about, and account for VRAM, feature support, dimensions, power connectors, warranty, and local availability.
- Leave room in the budget for a reliable power supply and a cooler that fits the case. A cheap part that does not meet the build’s requirements is not a useful saving.
Without a country, spending limit, game list, and target resolution, no one GPU or complete “lowest-cost” parts list can be responsibly named as the best fit.
Choose the AM5 motherboard and DDR5 memory
Start with a compatible board
Look for an AM5 motherboard, then compare total price, memory support, M.2 storage slots, rear and internal connectivity, Wi-Fi if you need it, form factor, firmware support, and warranty. B650 is one chipset family AMD lists for the 7600X; that does not mean every B650 board has the same features or is the best-priced choice in your area.

- 5.4 GHz Max Boost, unlocked for overclocking, 38 MB cache, DDR5-5600 support
- For the state-of-the-art Socket AM5 platform, can support PCIe 5.0 on select motherboards
- Cooler not included
Before buying, verify the exact board’s CPU and memory support, firmware requirements, physical dimensions, and the connections your other parts need. The board’s form factor must also fit the case.
Match a DDR5 kit to the board
Choose a matched DDR5 kit and check the motherboard manufacturer’s current memory-support information for the exact kit and the number of DIMMs you plan to install. AMD’s specification table lists DDR5-5200 for two single-rank or two dual-rank DIMMs, and DDR5-3600 for four single-rank or four dual-rank DIMMs. These are AMD’s listed specifications; they are not guarantees that every memory kit or board will reach a faster profile setting.

EXPO is AMD’s memory-profile technology for loading compatible memory settings on AM5. Profile speeds are memory overclocking settings, not guaranteed CPU specifications. Check AMD’s EXPO information and the selected motherboard’s memory documentation before relying on a kit’s advertised profile.
Budget for a separate CPU cooler
Choose an AM5-compatible cooler that meets AMD’s stated minimum capacity for this processor, then check its clearance against the case. For an air cooler, verify maximum cooler height; for a liquid cooler, verify radiator size and mounting positions. Confirm AM5 mounting hardware is included or available for the exact model. AMD recommends a premium air cooler for optimal performance, but its guidance does not identify one specific cooler as the right value for every build.

Cooler choice affects more than the initial price: fit, noise, and the case’s airflow matter too. Compare those details for the specific cooler and case rather than assuming that any cooler will fit or meet the requirement.
Pick the GPU, then size the power supply
Choose the graphics card after setting your budget, resolution, refresh-rate goal, and game mix. Compare trustworthy reviews for performance in those games at the resolution you plan to use, alongside local street price, VRAM, supported features, card dimensions, power connectors, warranty, and availability. The available specifications do not establish a current comparative GPU winner or a particular card’s value.

Once you select a GPU, follow that model’s manufacturer guidance for system power supply requirements and connectors, while accounting for the rest of the build. Do not apply one graphics card’s power requirement to another.
For example, AMD’s quick setup guide specifies a minimum 550 W system power supply and a PCI Express x16 graphics slot for the Radeon RX 7600 specifically. That is a model-specific requirement, not a recommendation for every GPU or the whole 7600X platform. See AMD’s RX 7600 quick setup guide.

Size storage for the games and files you expect to keep installed, and confirm the motherboard has a compatible slot or connection for the drive you choose. No particular SSD model or capacity is established as the right choice here, so compare current prices and your library’s needs.
Choose a case that fits the motherboard form factor, graphics card length, CPU cooler height or radiator, and power supply. Check its fan layout and airflow as well as its price. Confirm that the required parts can be installed together before purchasing; a case that fits the motherboard may still be too small for the GPU or cooler.
Quick Recap
Use this compatibility checklist before ordering
- Processor and board: Confirm the motherboard uses AM5 and supports the Ryzen 5 7600X; check firmware requirements for the exact model.
- Memory: Confirm DDR5 type, kit compatibility, DIMM count, and the board’s memory-support information.
- Cooling: Include a separate AM5-compatible cooler that meets the processor’s stated requirement, and verify case clearance.
- Graphics and power: Choose the GPU for your games and resolution, check its physical fit and power connectors, and follow its manufacturer’s PSU guidance.
- Storage and case: Confirm drive compatibility, motherboard form-factor fit, GPU dimensions, cooler or radiator clearance, and airflow.
- Total value: Compare the complete system cost, expected performance at your chosen resolution, warranty, noise and cooling needs, and local availability—not just the CPU or motherboard price.
