On a computer, save a page by selecting the bookmark control beside Chrome’s address bar. Find saved pages with the bookmarks bar, the @bookmarks address-bar search, or Bookmark Manager. Chrome’s computer import and export tools use HTML files; Android and iPhone/iPad have different bookmark controls.
How to add a bookmark on a computer
- Open the page you want to save in Chrome.
- Select the bookmark control to the right of the address bar.
- In the dialog, change the bookmark name or choose a folder if needed, then save it.
Google Chrome Help describes bookmarks as a way to have Chrome “remember your favorite and frequently visited websites.” Google’s computer instructions cover creating and managing them.
How to show or find bookmarks on a computer
Show the bookmarks bar
Select More > Bookmarks and lists > Show bookmarks bar. The bar gives you a visible shortcut to saved pages.

Type @bookmarks in the address bar, press Tab or Space, and enter a search term. Select the matching bookmark from the results.

Browse all saved bookmarks
Open More > Bookmarks and lists > Bookmark Manager or Show all bookmarks, then select the item you want to open. Bookmark Manager is also where you can organize saved pages.
How to edit, organize, or delete bookmarks on a computer
Open Bookmark Manager or the bookmarks navigation panel to make changes. You can edit an individual bookmark, create folders, sort entries, and move bookmarks by dragging them or choosing a destination folder. For several entries, the navigation panel supports bulk editing. To remove an item, open its menu and choose the delete option.

Google says deleted computer bookmarks cannot be recovered through Chrome’s bookmark interface, so check the selected item before deleting it.
How to use bookmarks on Android
- In Chrome, open More > Bookmarks.
- Choose a folder, then select a bookmark to open it. Use the bookmarks page’s search to find a saved item.
- To change or remove an item, open its menu and choose the relevant edit or delete option.
The bookmarks control may appear in a different place when the address bar is at the bottom of the screen. Google’s Android guidance also notes limitations in tablet controls. Google warns that deleting bookmarks on Android cannot be undone or recovered through that interface. See Google’s Android bookmark instructions.

How to use bookmarks on iPhone or iPad
Open More > Bookmarks to view saved pages. Touch and hold a bookmark to edit it. To delete, swipe left on an item or select multiple items and remove them. Google’s iPhone and iPad instructions say the deletion prompt offers an undo option. See Google’s iOS bookmark instructions.
How to import or export bookmarks on a computer
Import bookmarks from an HTML file
- Open Chrome and select More > Bookmarks and lists > Import bookmarks and settings.
- Choose the HTML file containing the bookmarks and complete the import dialog.
If you are moving bookmarks from another browser, that browser may need to export them to an HTML file first. Google says imported bookmarks appear on the bookmarks bar if Chrome had no bookmarks before; otherwise, they are added to an Other bookmarks folder.

Export Chrome bookmarks
- Open Bookmark Manager.
- Select More > Export Bookmarks.
- Save the HTML file. It can then be imported into another browser.

How to access bookmarks across devices
Sign in to Chrome with the same Google Account on each device to make bookmarks available across those devices. Which information syncs can be managed in Chrome’s sync preferences. Google Chrome Help currently states a capacity of up to 100,000 bookmarks per Google Account; the page does not give that figure a publication date, so treat it as Google’s stated current capacity rather than a permanent technical guarantee. Google suggests deleting unused bookmarks or exporting them if the limit is reached. See Google’s Chrome sync guidance.
