Use Koofr’s iOS app to upload both existing iPhone photos and videos and new captures to a Koofr folder. In the app, open Home > Settings > Auto Camera Upload, turn on Backup photos and videos, and choose what to upload and where. Keep Koofr open for the initial upload, then confirm the files appear in Koofr before deleting anything from your iPhone.
Set up automatic photo and video uploads

Install or update the Koofr app from the App Store, then sign in or create an account.

In Koofr, open Home > Settings > Auto Camera Upload. If you are a new user, the app may show an upload setup prompt after sign-in.

Turn on Backup photos and videos. Choose whether Koofr should upload existing media from your library as well as new items, or only new items going forward.

Choose a destination folder. Koofr uses My iOS Media by default, but you can select another folder in your account.

Set the available preferences for your library: organize uploads into folders by year, preserve creation dates for new uploads, include Live Photos, and allow cellular data if you want uploads to use it. Labels and options can vary by app version.

For the initial upload, keep Koofr open; Wi-Fi and a charger are practical choices for a large library. Background upload depends on your iOS and app versions, and is not guaranteed to run continuously.

Koofr describes Auto-Upload as backup, not sync. Once a photo or video has uploaded, deleting the local item from your iPhone does not delete the Koofr copy. This is a camera-roll upload, not a complete backup of the iPhone or its apps and settings.
If you change the destination folder and choose to back up all existing media, Koofr says it will upload the device’s media to the newly selected destination again. Consider this before changing folders when you have a large library. Koofr also renames duplicate filenames to avoid overwriting files; a renamed item may have a suffix such as “(1).”

Check that the backup completed

Open Home in the Koofr app to view auto-upload progress.

Open the destination folder in Koofr and confirm that the expected photos and videos are present. Koofr’s upload-progress instructions explain where to check status.

Only after confirming the cloud copies should you remove local originals if freeing iPhone storage is your goal.

Background uploads depend on iOS
Koofr says background auto-upload requires Koofr iOS app version 4.0.0 or later and iOS 26.4 or later. With an earlier iOS version, Koofr’s instructions say the app must remain open for automatic uploads. Even on supported versions, iOS decides when background work runs; uploads may be delayed from minutes to hours and can pause because of system conditions such as battery level, Low Power Mode, network availability, storage, or thermal state. For background upload on iOS 26.4 or later

Confirm that the Koofr app is version 4.0.0 or later and that the iPhone runs iOS 26.4 or later.

Turn off Low Power Mode, leave Koofr running in the background rather than force-closing it, and check that Koofr has full Photos access and Background App Refresh is enabled.

Check that the network connection works. Background scheduling remains under Apple’s control, so these checks do not guarantee immediate uploads. Koofr lists them in its background-upload troubleshooting guide.
For iOS versions earlier than 26.4
Keep Koofr open with the screen on while uploads run. If an upload stalls, Koofr suggests finding the last uploaded file in the destination folder, locating the next item in Photos, and temporarily hiding that item to see whether uploading resumes. If it does not, contact Koofr support. See its instructions for older-iOS upload problems.
Check account storage
A full Koofr account can prevent new uploads. Check available storage in your account; Koofr directs users to its web app for storage management rather than providing a direct in-app upgrade link.
