Roblox does not currently provide a player-facing switch, command, or menu option that disables its idle disconnect. You will not find a supported Settings → Privacy → Disable AFK Kick option, and there is no Roblox-wide chat or console command that changes the timer.
The commonly reported platform idle limit is about 20 minutes, but Roblox does not specify that threshold as a configurable value in its current Player API documentation. The practical answer depends on whether you are playing someone else’s experience, developing your own, or considering an external automation tool.
What happens when you go AFK on Roblox?
Roblox can disconnect a player who remains inactive for an extended period. This is a platform-level idle behavior controlled by the Roblox client and CoreGui, rather than a setting that each experience can simply switch off.
Developer Forum discussions commonly refer to the idle limit as 20 minutes. Treat that as a widely reported threshold rather than a guaranteed, officially documented timer. The current Creator Hub documentation exposes the Player.Idled event, which reports an idle time value to experience code, but it does not document the platform’s exact kick threshold or provide a method for disabling it.

Can you turn off the Roblox AFK kick in Settings?
No. Roblox currently has no documented user setting for disabling the idle disconnect. There is no supported path such as Settings → Privacy → Disable AFK Kick. That menu path is often repeated in low-quality guides, but it is not a current Roblox option. The same applies to supposed chat commands, developer-console commands, and account settings that claim to disable AFK kicking.
The Player.Idled event shown in Roblox’s API is for experience code. It is not a command that players can type, and it does not let a normal player change Roblox’s platform-level idle behavior.
Your realistic options
1. Use an experience’s built-in AFK feature
Some experiences have their own AFK mode, safe area, idle rewards, or server-transfer system. Look through the experience’s own settings, pause menu, help panel, or in-game commands. A game-specific AFK mode may preserve your progress or stop that experience from treating you as inactive.
However, an experience’s AFK feature does not necessarily disable Roblox’s platform idle disconnect. If the experience does not actively manage the player before the platform timeout, Roblox may still remove the client.

AFK behavior is ultimately a design choice for each experience. A developer may provide a safe AFK area, suspend rewards while a player is inactive, or move players between servers before the platform idle disconnect occurs.

That workaround is implemented by the experience, not by your Roblox account. It can also fail if teleportation is unavailable, the destination server closes, the original server shuts down, or the experience does not save your position and progress correctly.
3. Rejoin when you return
If you only need to leave temporarily, the least complicated option is to let Roblox disconnect you and rejoin later. Before doing so, check whether the experience saves progress automatically. Some games save frequently; others only save at checkpoints, when leaving normally, or at specific intervals.
Do not assume that a rejoin will return you to the same server. The server may have shut down, filled up, or been replaced, and any unsaved state may be lost.

“Just make your avatar jump” is a common suggestion, but it is not a verified universal fix. Roblox’s official API documentation does not state that avatar movement or jumping alone resets the platform’s idle detector.
It may fail if the action is not recognized as genuine client input. It can also fail because the experience has its own AFK detection and may kick, teleport, or stop rewarding inactive players regardless of movement. An avatar moving in a loop is therefore not a dependable Roblox-wide solution.

Should you use an autoclicker or keyboard macro?
External autoclickers, keyboard macros, and other input-simulation tools are not official Roblox features. A macro might make a client appear active to an inactivity detector, but it does not protect against:
- loss of your internet connection;
- a Roblox client crash;
- server shutdowns or teleport failures;
- an experience’s own AFK kick;
- progress that was never saved; or
- anti-cheat or account enforcement.
Roblox Support warns that modified Roblox apps and software that changes how Roblox works can result in temporary suspension or permanent account action, particularly when used repeatedly. That makes an external automation tool a poor choice for an important account or a valuable in-game session. See Roblox’s anti-cheat guidance.
For the same reason, be cautious with downloads promising an “undetectable anti-AFK.” They may be outdated, unsupported, or bundled with malware. Never give such a tool your Roblox password, browser cookies, authentication codes, or recovery information.
Are old VirtualUser anti-AFK scripts still supported?
Many older tutorials show code similar to this: game:GetService(“Players”).LocalPlayer.Idled:Connect(function() game:GetService(“VirtualUser”):ClickButton2(Vector2.new()) end)
This should not be treated as a current, supported player-side solution. Roblox’s current VirtualUser documentation identifies VirtualUser as a Not Creatable, Service, and Not Replicated class. The current page does not document the old ClickButton2 method or present it as an anti-AFK feature.

Copying a snippet from an old video can therefore produce an error, do nothing, or rely on behavior that Roblox no longer supports. Running arbitrary scripts through exploit executors also creates separate security and account-enforcement risks.
Can an experience developer disable the kick?
Not directly through an ordinary server script. Developer Forum guidance describes the platform idle behavior as CoreGui-controlled, which means normal experience code cannot simply turn it off for a player.
Developers can sometimes work around the timer by teleporting a player to the same experience or another server before the idle disconnect occurs. A robust implementation may need to save and restore the player’s position, inventory, quest state, or other data. It also needs to handle failed teleports and destination servers that close.
This is why a game may appear to support unlimited AFK sessions even though Roblox itself has no “disable AFK kick” setting. The experience is managing the session rather than removing the platform rule.

An idle disconnect and a connection failure are separate problems. If your client loses its connection to the Roblox server, Roblox must disconnect the player. No jump, macro, script, or experience teleport can preserve a session after the client is no longer connected.

Likewise, avoiding the platform idle timer does not prevent an experience from kicking for its own reasons. Games may detect inactivity, suspend AFK rewards, remove players from an event, or use anti-bot systems that interpret repetitive automated actions as suspicious.
Best way to stay safe while AFK
- Check the experience first. Look for an official AFK mode, safe zone, pause option, or server-transfer notice.
- Save before leaving. Confirm that your progress, inventory, or position has been saved.
- Do not rely on a claimed Roblox setting. There is currently no documented account toggle or command that disables the platform idle disconnect.
- Avoid unsupported scripts and executors. Old VirtualUser examples are not current documented solutions.
- Use macros only with extreme caution. They are not official Roblox features and may create anti-cheat, security, or account risks.
- Expect to rejoin. A server can close or become unavailable even if the client appears active.
