The Associated Press’s closing-day overview lists Warner Bros. Games and Skydance’s game-development businesses in the combined portfolio. That establishes that both are included, but does not specify how either business will be organized or managed.
Paramount had also announced a games organization before the Warner Bros. Discovery deal closed. On June 5, 2026, Paramount described Paramount Games Studio as unifying Paramount and Skydance gaming studios, named Skydance Interactive and Skydance New Media as development teams, and described games as a core content pillar. That announcement predates the acquisition’s close and does not explain how Warner Bros. Games fits into the post-close structure.
What the combined franchise portfolio could mean
The combined portfolio includes properties with existing game connections and potential for future licensing or development. The Associated Press’s overview names Harry Potter; DC characters including Batman, Superman, Wonder Woman, and Aquaman; Game of Thrones; SpongeBob SquarePants; Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles; Avatar: The Last Airbender; and Looney Tunes, among other properties. The merger announcement also names franchises including Mission: Impossible and Top Gun.

Common ownership could make it easier to coordinate licensing, marketing, or plans that span games and other media. That is a possibility suggested by the combined portfolio and Paramount’s stated interest in franchise experiences—not an announced Warner Bros. Games strategy. A franchise appearing in the portfolio does not confirm a new game, crossover, sequel, remake, or change to an existing title.
Games announced before the deal closed
Paramount’s June 5, 2026 games announcement described two projects. It named PlatinumGames as the developer and Paramount Games as the publisher of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: The Last Ronin, described as a console and PC action-adventure game. It described Avatar Legends: The Fighting Game as a PC game, with other platforms to come.

These are details from the pre-close announcement, not confirmation of either project’s post-close schedule or status. A project’s developer, publisher, and rights owner may be different entities; the announcement’s named roles for The Last Ronin illustrate that distinction. Look for a new statement from the publisher or developer before treating platforms, timing, or other project details as updated.

What the merger does not establish for existing games
The closing announcement says streaming services will unify into one service over time and commits to at least 30 theatrical films annually, each with a minimum 45-day theatrical window. Those are company-wide streaming and film statements; they do not set game-release targets or establish changes to game storefronts, online services, or support for released games.
Accordingly, the available announcements do not establish that an existing game will lose support, be delisted, change publisher, or receive new content because of the merger. Nor do they establish that an announced game’s schedule will change. Any such claim requires a title-specific update from the company, studio, publisher, or developer. The U.S. Department of Justice’s June 2026 statement addressed streaming, linear television, and theatrical film markets; it should not be read as a finding about video-game competition.

How to assess future announcements
- Check who made the announcement. A rights owner, developer, and publisher can be separate parties, so identify which entity is speaking and what role it has.
- Separate confirmed plans from possibilities. A named project, platform, or release window is only as current as its latest direct announcement; portfolio overlap alone is not a project announcement.
- Look for title-specific information. Release dates, platforms, online availability, and post-launch support need updates about the individual game, not assumptions based on the corporate transaction.
- Treat studio changes as unconfirmed until stated. The closing-day portfolio listing does not answer questions about leadership, staffing, combinations, or closures.
