It routes console video to a display, sends the selected system’s audio wirelessly to the headset, and uses PLAYSYNC to switch the headset among connected systems. Logitech lists passthrough up to 4K at 120 Hz, but the result depends on the other devices, settings, and cables in the HDMI chain.
What the base station does
Think of the A50 X base station as both a console video pass-through hub and a wireless headset connection point. Xbox and PS5 video travels through the station to the display over HDMI; the station also handles the headset’s wireless connection and lets you select which connected system to hear. A PC or Mac connects to the station by USB-C instead of using the console HDMI path.
Logitech describes PLAYSYNC as connecting the A50 X to three systems at once. With those systems connected, press the PLAYSYNC button on the headset to switch between them. The station also acts as a magnetic charging cradle, and its LED panel shows battery and selected-system status. Logitech specifies up to 24 hours of headset battery life and a maximum wireless range of 12 m; these are manufacturer figures, not independent test results. Logitech G’s A50 X product page
How to connect Xbox, PS5, and PC or Mac
Xbox Series X|S and PS5
- Connect the console’s HDMI output to an HDMI input on the A50 X base station.
- Connect the base station’s HDMI output to the display.
- Connect the base station to power and follow the product’s setup instructions to complete the headset connection.
- Use the PLAYSYNC button on the headset to select the console when you want to hear it.
Both consoles use the station’s HDMI 2.1 video path. Logitech describes Game/Chat mixing for Xbox and PS5, Dolby Atmos for Xbox, and PS5 3D Audio. The audio feature depends on the platform; these should not be treated as interchangeable formats.

PC or Mac
Connect the computer to the base station over USB-C. Logitech lists PC USB audio up to 24-bit/48 kHz and support for Dolby Atmos or Windows Sonic on PC. Its product materials describe G HUB customization and Game/Chat mixing for PC. The product page specifies USB-C for PC/Mac; it does not describe the computer as using the console HDMI passthrough route. Logitech G’s A50 X specifications
Does the A50 X pass through 4K at 120 Hz?
Logitech lists up to 4K at 120 Hz passthrough, three HDMI 2.1 ports, 40 Gbps bandwidth, ALLM, and VRR. Those are manufacturer specifications and indicate the maximum supported passthrough capability—not a guarantee that every setup will output 4K/120 Hz. The console, display, game or content, video settings, and every link in the cable path must support the desired mode.

For optimal video passthrough, Logitech says to use HDMI 2.1-certified cables. HDMI cables are required for the full HDMI experience and are sold separately according to Logitech’s product specifications. Check that the cables and display support the resolution and refresh rate you intend to use; an unspecified or older cable may limit the signal. Logitech G’s A50 X specifications

What to check if your video mode does not work
- Confirm the console and display support the resolution and refresh rate you want.
- Check the console’s video-output settings and the display’s relevant input settings.
- Use HDMI 2.1-certified cables for optimal passthrough, as Logitech recommends, and verify that the complete connection path supports the target mode.
- Remember that “up to 4K/120 Hz” is the base station’s listed maximum capability, not a promise about every device combination.
