They work together, but they are not the same thing. You can also use personal photos and, on eligible models, some free art selections without subscribing.
What is the difference?

Samsung describes Art Mode as a way to show artwork or personal photos when the screen is not being used for regular viewing. The Art Store is where owners browse and select artwork. In short, the Store supplies content; Art Mode displays it. Samsung Canada’s guide explains the feature and directs users to browse the store.
Do you need an Art Store membership to use Art Mode?
No. A membership is not the same as Art Mode, and it is not the only way to show images. Samsung documents using personal photos, and some eligible TVs offer free artwork selections or streams. Membership can unlock a broader catalogue, but the free options and subscription terms depend on the model and market. Samsung UK’s support guide describes Art Streams as free artwork streams on eligible models.
For a US-specific example, Samsung’s Art TV page lists Art Store membership at $4.99 per month or $49.99 per year and describes on-demand access to over 5,000 works. Those are Samsung US page claims, current in 2026; prices and catalogue size can change and should not be assumed to apply elsewhere. Check Samsung’s US Art TV page for its current offer.

Which TVs and regions support them?
Do not assume every Samsung television supports Art Mode or Art Store. Availability depends on the exact model, country, and current offer. Samsung Canada says Art Store use requires an internet-connected TV, a Samsung account, and agreement to the relevant Smart Hub and Art Store terms; its guide applies to TVs sold in Canada, and notes that screens and settings may differ elsewhere. Review the Canada guide alongside the support information for your location.
Samsung UK’s support guide, dated July 29, 2025, lists Art Store availability on The Frame and QLED 2024 Q60 models and above. It describes free Art Streams for The Frame 2022 models onward and QLED 2024 Q60 models and above, with 20 works per month in the stream. Samsung UK’s The Frame page describes 370+ free pieces annually and says a subscription is required to enjoy all Art Store art. It also warns that free artwork counts and monthly update timing may vary by region and change. Check the UK The Frame page for those market-specific details.

Samsung support says the remote’s Power button can switch to Art Mode; holding Power turns the TV fully off instead. Button behavior and menus can differ by model and software version, so consult your TV’s manual or on-screen guidance if the shortcut does not behave this way. What to check before relying on either feature
- Find your TV’s exact model and confirm Art Mode support in the Samsung support information for your country.
- Check Art Store eligibility separately; support for one feature does not establish support for the other.
- Confirm whether the artwork you want is free, included with a current membership, or unavailable in your region.
- For Art Store use, verify internet access, Samsung account requirements, and applicable terms for your market.
