You cannot transfer a Pokémon directly from a Pokémon FireRed or LeafGreen cartridge to Pokémon HOME. The documented final route is from Pokémon Bank to HOME, but the official guidance reviewed here does not establish the full legacy path from these Game Boy Advance games into Bank. If your Pokémon are already in Bank, you can move them to HOME with a Premium plan; that move cannot be reversed back to Bank.

Can I transfer Pokémon from FireRed or LeafGreen directly to Pokémon HOME?

No direct connection is documented. Pokémon HOME’s compatibility information describes Pokémon Bank as the legacy route into HOME, while Nintendo’s published Poké Transporter source-game list names Pokémon Black, White, Black 2, White 2, and certain Virtual Console titles—not FireRed or LeafGreen. Poké Transporter should therefore not be treated as a direct GBA-to-Bank transfer tool.

A cartridge alone is not enough to complete a HOME transfer. The official support material reviewed does not lay out the complete generation-by-generation route from either GBA game into Bank, or verify the intermediate games, consoles, apps, and current service requirements. Do not buy equipment or move a valuable Pokémon on the assumption that a particular legacy chain will work without checking that exact setup first.

What if my Pokémon are already in Pokémon Bank?

If the Pokémon are already in Bank, the documented final step is to move them from Bank to HOME. Pokémon HOME Premium is required for this transfer. The official HOME information reviewed does not identify a Nintendo Switch Online membership as a requirement for the Bank connection.

Pokémon Pokopia - Nintendo Switch 2
  • Shape the world and build a cozy new life with Pokémon as a Ditto transformed to look like a human.
  • Use other Pokémon’s moves, like Bulbasaur’s Leafage, to revitalize and navigate the world around you.
  • Meet and befriend more Pokémon as you help nature flourish.
  • Gather materials to create items and furniture, till the fields to grow delicious crops, build homes for the Pokémon you meet, and more—there’s so much to do!
  • Experience a world with varied weather, real-time days and nights, and other surprises.

The transfer is one-way: after a Pokémon moves from Bank to HOME, it cannot be sent back to Bank. Check Bank’s status before acting. Pokémon Support announced that Bank will end on February 26, 2027 at 03:00 UTC; transfers from Bank to HOME are also scheduled to stop at that time. Because service availability can change, check Pokémon Support’s current notice before starting.

How do I proceed if the Pokémon are still in FireRed or LeafGreen?

  1. Identify what you have. Confirm that the Pokémon are still in the original game, and note the consoles, game software, and any existing Bank account or saved Bank data available to you.
  2. Verify the missing legacy route. The official guidance reviewed here does not confirm the complete path from FireRed or LeafGreen through intermediate generations into Bank. Find authoritative, setup-specific instructions before attempting a transfer; do not assume Poké Transporter accepts either GBA game as a source.
  3. Check Bank’s current availability and deadline. Confirm the latest Pokémon Support notice before relying on Bank for the final move.
  4. Check the intended HOME destination. HOME limits transfers to games in which that Pokémon appears. Use HOME’s game-specific compatibility information to check the individual species before planning where it will go.

Can every Pokémon in HOME move to every connected game?

No. A Pokémon can move only to a game in which its species appears. Check the compatibility details in HOME for that Pokémon and the specific destination game; reaching HOME does not guarantee that it can be sent to every connected title.
