On the U.S. PlayStation Store, a discount is a temporary offer on selected digital products. The price in effect when you complete checkout is the price that applies to your purchase; if the game gets cheaper later, that price drop alone does not entitle you to a refund. Check the exact edition, platform, account region, offer terms, and end time on the live listing before buying.

What a PlayStation Store discount means

A Store listing may show an offer price beside the original price and a percentage reduction. The offer applies to the specific product and under the terms shown for it. Do not assume a discount covers every edition, add-on, platform, or account: check the exact item you intend to buy.

#	Product	Price
1	$100 PlayStation Store Gift Card [Digital Code]	$100.00	Buy on Amazon
2	$25 PlayStation Store Gift Card [Digital Code]	$25.00	Buy on Amazon
3	$50 PlayStation Store Gift Card [Digital Code]	$50.00	Buy on Amazon
4	$10 -PlayStation Store Gift Card [Digital Code]	$10.00	Buy on Amazon
5	$75 PlayStation Store Gift Card [Digital Code]	$75.00	Buy on Amazon

Sony’s U.S. Terms of Service say the transaction price is the price in effect when the transaction occurs. That makes the live listing and checkout amount—not a price seen earlier or a later price—the relevant amount for your purchase.

Does the sale price apply automatically at checkout?

If the Store shows a sale price for the exact item and your account is eligible, that is the price to expect when you purchase it. Before confirming, make sure the checkout summary reflects the offer. Offers can change or be removed, and Sony’s terms say they are no longer valid after a stated end date or time. If the displayed price and checkout total differ, do not complete the order until you have checked the item, account region, and current offer details.

Will PlayStation refund you if a game goes on sale after you buy it?

Not solely because the price later falls. Sony’s U.S. terms state that the price in effect at the time of the transaction applies, and a subsequent temporary sale or permanent price reduction does not by itself create an entitlement to a refund. There is no guaranteed price-adjustment service established by these terms.

A cancellation request is a separate matter from a later price drop. Under the U.S. cancellation policy, a game or add-on purchase can generally be canceled within 14 days of purchase only if downloading or streaming has not started. Once it has started, the purchase is generally not refundable unless the product is faulty. Applicable local law may provide additional rights.

How long does a PlayStation Store sale last?

There is no universal sale duration or guaranteed calendar. A particular offer may specify an end date or time; otherwise, Sony’s terms allow offers to be changed or removed. Read the terms on the current listing rather than assuming a promotion will remain available until a particular date.

Event	Listed dates in 2026
Spring Sale	March 25–April 22
Days of Play	May 27–June 10
Summer Sale	July 15–August 12

These are dated examples, not a promise that the same events or discounts will recur on a fixed schedule. The 2026 Summer Sale has ended. PlayStation says to check the Store for additional sales and events throughout the year.

Does a discount use a standard formula or guarantee the best price?

The official U.S. terms and Store listings do not establish one universal discount formula, a historical-low calculation, or a market-wide price comparison. A percentage shown on a listing describes that offer; it does not establish that the price is the lowest the game has ever been or will be.

If you are deciding whether to buy now or wait, compare the current price with the offer’s stated end time and consider whether waiting is worthwhile to you. There is no guarantee a later sale will happen or beat today’s offer. Prices, availability, and displayed percentages can change.

What about wallet funds and gift cards?

Adding funds to a U.S. PlayStation Store wallet is not a discount on a game. Sony’s cancellation policy says wallet top-ups cannot be canceled and that funds added to the wallet are non-refundable. Its policy also excludes gift cards and vouchers bought outside the Store; the retailer’s terms govern those purchases. A gift card may fund a wallet, but it does not change the game’s listed offer price.

What to check before you buy

Confirm the exact game edition or add-on and the platform shown in the listing.
Check the offer price, original price, and any displayed percentage against the item you mean to purchase.
Read the offer terms and end date or time, if one is stated.
Verify the price in the checkout summary before completing the transaction.
If you may need to cancel, remember that the U.S. policy generally requires that downloading or streaming has not started and that you request cancellation within 14 days.

These rules describe the U.S. Store. For a purchase in another country or region, check that region’s current Store listing and cancellation terms; do not assume the U.S. policy applies.
