Plan for 170 GB of available space. That is the published PC requirement for FINAL FANTASY XVI on Steam, not a separately measured Steam Deck install size. Steam also says an SSD is required, so check the free space on the drive you intend to use before installing.

What is the official storage requirement?

Steam lists 170 GB of available space for both the minimum and recommended PC requirements, and its Additional Notes say “SSD required.” Square Enix’s official PC requirements page likewise specifies “170 GB or more” and an SSD. Steam’s FINAL FANTASY XVI listing and Square Enix’s PC requirements do not publish a separate Steam Deck install-size figure.

Will it fit on your Steam Deck?

That depends on your Deck’s remaining free space, not only its advertised capacity. Valve currently lists Steam Deck models with 512 GB and 1 TB NVMe SSDs, along with a high-speed microSD slot. The 170 GB figure is a free-space requirement; it should not be mistaken for the Deck’s total storage capacity or a measured final footprint after installation.

Storage figure or option What it tells you
170 GB available space Steam’s published PC requirement for both minimum and recommended specifications; Square Enix says 170 GB or more.
512 GB or 1 TB NVMe SSD Valve-listed Steam Deck internal storage configurations; usable free space varies with what is already on the device.
High-speed microSD slot Valve documents support for UHS-I SD, SDXC, and SDHC cards. The game’s listing still says an SSD is required.

Valve’s Steam Deck technical specifications identify the internal SSD options and microSD support. Neither Valve nor the game’s official PC requirements page establishes that installing FINAL FANTASY XVI to microSD satisfies the game’s SSD requirement or guarantees particular performance.

What the 170 GB figure does not tell you

It is a published PC requirement, not a Steam Deck-specific measurement. The official pages reviewed do not state the game’s Deck install footprint, download size, how much extra space updates may require, or microSD-specific performance. Leave yourself room beyond the stated requirement if you want space for other games or updates, but no official extra-space amount is specified.
