Plan on about eight hours to finish Owlboy’s main story. HowLongToBeat estimates displayed on GOG put a story run at 8 hours, a run with side content at 10 hours, and completionist play at 13 hours. You can start another playthrough, but the sources available do not document a New Game Plus mode or explain exactly what happens to your save after the credits.
How long does Owlboy take to beat?
GOG displays HowLongToBeat estimates for three kinds of play. They are community-tracked estimates, not an official completion-time promise from developer D-Pad Studio, so your pace and how much optional content you explore will affect your total.

All four figures are HowLongToBeat estimates displayed on GOG when accessed in 2026. “All styles” is a separate overall estimate, not another milestone to add to a story or completionist run. The gap between the story and completionist estimates gives a rough sense of how much longer optional exploration and extra goals may take.

You can choose to begin another playthrough. However, the official game page and store information reviewed do not confirm a dedicated New Game Plus mode, a changed second run, or a postgame campaign. They also do not establish whether the game returns you to a pre-final-boss save or lets you continue freely after the credits.

Steam identifies Owlboy as a single-player game and lists achievements and Steam Cloud. Those features do not specify its post-credits save behavior. Because the available information does not establish whether the ending or save flow works the same way on every platform, do not assume that another edition handles it identically.
What kind of game is Owlboy?
D-Pad Studio describes Owlboy as a flying adventure platformer set in a pixel world. Its story follows Otus, who struggles with the expectations of owl-hood before sky pirates arrive. It is a single-player game; the story and world may make a return playthrough appealing, but they are not evidence of extra content unlocked after finishing.

Steam lists the game in the Action, Adventure, and Indie genres, with a release date of November 1, 2016. Deku Deals lists versions for Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Steam. The available information does not establish platform-by-platform differences in save handling or post-ending behavior.
