There is no single update lifespan for every OnePlus phone. OnePlus’s UK security policy sets a minimum of three years of security updates after launch for smartphones and tablets, while its model-by-model table lists longer or specific end dates for some phones. Major Android version upgrades are a separate commitment: check the promise for your exact model rather than assuming its security-support period tells you how many Android upgrades it will receive.
Android upgrades and security updates are different
A major Android OS upgrade moves a phone to a newer Android version. A security update patches vulnerabilities and other security issues; it does not necessarily change the Android version. OnePlus publishes security-support information separately from model-specific OS-upgrade promises, so a security end date cannot be used to calculate how many Android versions a phone will receive.
For example, OnePlus’s UK [OnePlus 11 5G Specs](https://www.oneplus.com/uk/11/specs) page promises “at least four generations of android OS upgrades and five years of security updates from the launch date.” Those are two distinct commitments, and the five-year security promise is measured from launch. OnePlus does not make that particular four-generation promise a blanket commitment for every phone.
Security-support end dates listed for OnePlus phones
OnePlus’s UK Product Security Update Period page says smartphones and tablets receive security updates for a minimum of three years following product launch. Its table gives model-specific security-support end dates, which are more useful than the general minimum when checking a listed phone.

These dates are OnePlus’s listed security-support end dates, not independently measured update-delivery results. The OnePlus 10 Pro date has passed as of October 2026. The listed end date does not establish whether a particular carrier or regional variant received every update on the same schedule.
How to check the promise for your exact phone
- Identify the exact model and regional variant. A phone name alone may not identify a carrier-exclusive or region-specific model.
- Check OnePlus’s Product Security Update Period page. Find the exact model in the table and note its listed security-support end date.
- Check the phone’s official specifications or support page for Android upgrades. Look for a specific number of Android OS generations; do not infer one from the security end date or from another OnePlus model.
- Use the date as a support window, not a delivery calendar. A published period describes the support commitment, but does not mean all users receive each update simultaneously.
Why an update may arrive later on one OnePlus than another
OnePlus says actual security-update delivery times may vary by country or region and model. Its OxygenOS 16 compatibility and rollout information says releases are rolled out in batches and timing can vary by device, country, and carrier. For carrier-exclusive models, the respective carrier determines the schedule. Therefore, eligibility for a particular OxygenOS release does not by itself promise future major Android generations or a specific arrival date.
