Linus Sebastian’s team turned a YouTube Diamond Play Button into a compact gaming PC by modifying the award to house an Intel NUC 10 Performance Kit. It was a custom fabrication project, not an off-the-shelf enclosure: the aluminum award became part of the cooling system, with a custom copper heatsink, heatpipes and a fan completing the thermal design.
What went inside the award?
The project used Intel’s NUC 10 Performance Kit, identified in Intel documentation as the NUC10i7FNH. Its processor was a 10th-generation Core i7-10710U. Intel specifies six cores, 12 threads, up to 4.70 GHz turbo frequency and 12 MB of cache for that chip. Intel’s processor specifications also mark it as discontinued, so the project is best viewed as a historical build rather than a current parts recommendation.
The kit supports dual-channel DDR4 SO-DIMM memory, an M.2 storage slot and Thunderbolt 3, according to Intel’s NUC 10 Performance product brief. Those are kit-level capabilities; the project account does not state the finished PC’s RAM or storage capacity.
How the Diamond Play Button was modified
A Diamond Play Button is YouTube’s creator milestone award for reaching 10 million subscribers. In Evan Rust’s Hackster.io account of the build, the team first had the award professionally scanned by Laman. Its mirror-like surface made ordinary scanning difficult. They edited the design in SolidWorks and test-printed it before SS CADCAM milled the modified award on a five-axis CNC machine.

The machining created room for the internal computer hardware, USB and audio connections, and a power button. The project account does not publish the scan files, machining drawings or a complete bill of materials, so the process is documented at a high level rather than as a reproducible set of fabrication plans.
How the award helped cool the PC
The aluminum award body was incorporated into the cooling system. Channels milled into its underside increased surface area, while a custom-milled copper CPU heatsink and heatpipes carried heat toward a fan. An LED strip at the base illuminated the translucent central diamond.

Rust described the award as a “massive heatsink” because it is a large piece of aluminum. The article reports the design, but provides no measured temperatures, benchmark results, power draw, acoustic data or controlled comparison. The available account therefore supports describing the cooling layout, not claiming how well it performed.

This conversion depended on custom scanning, CAD work, test printing and CNC machining; it was not simply a matter of putting a mini PC inside an award. Anyone adapting a different enclosure would need to evaluate its available space alongside the computer’s heat output and cooling requirements.
