Google’s Professional ChromeOS Administrator certification is a credential for people who manage ChromeOS environments. To pursue it, start with Google’s current Learning Center and ChromeOS certification resources, then use Google’s live certification materials to confirm how to register and what the exam requires. Google’s original 2022 announcement described the credential and exam, but it does not establish today’s exam rules, price, or availability.
What is the Professional ChromeOS Administrator certification?
Google announced the Professional ChromeOS Administrator certification on October 17, 2022, as a way to recognize expertise in administering ChromeOS environments. Its launch-era audience included enterprise and education system administrators and junior engineers with at least one year of holistic IT infrastructure experience. Treat that as guidance from the announcement, not as a verified current eligibility requirement. Google’s announcement does not establish whether current candidates must meet the same experience guidance.
The credential is aimed at practical administration rather than general Chromebook use. Google said the exam assessed work in Google Admin Console, including configuring ChromeOS policies and understanding ChromeOS principles.
What was on the ChromeOS admin exam at launch?
Google’s October 2022 announcement described a three-hour exam with two 90-minute sections:

How do I become ChromeOS certified?
- Start with Google’s IT-admin learning resources. The Google for Education Learning Center promotes online learning for IT administrators. Use it to find relevant training; the available information does not establish that a particular course is mandatory.
- Open Google’s ChromeOS certification preparation links. The Google for Education resource catalog surfaces links labeled “Get ChromeOS certified” and “Prepare for the ChromeOS Admin Certification.” Follow the current links for preparation materials and registration information.
- Check the live exam terms before registering. Confirm the current eligibility guidance, exam format, registration route, fee, regional availability, language options, and any technical requirements directly in Google’s current materials. The 2022 announcement is not a current registration guide.
- Prepare for the work the exam covers. The launch description points to Google Admin Console and ChromeOS policy configuration as practical areas to understand. Use current official preparation materials to determine the scope and format to study for now.
Google also lists professional development, training, and consulting among services available through Google for Education partners. Organizations that want instructor-led or team-oriented support can explore the Google for Education partner information; that listing does not establish a specific certification course or endorse an individual provider.
