Fortnite chests are found at marked locations across the island, but a map marker does not tell you what loot a chest will contain—and chest locations and loot can change with the season and playlist. For Chapter 7 Season 4: Override, Epic confirms new points of interest and a refreshed loot pool, but does not publish a current standard Battle Royale chest-spawn percentage or exact chest contents table. This guide explains how to use chest markers and what you can reliably expect, as of October 7, 2026.
Where do chests spawn in Fortnite?
Chest locations are spread across the island. To plan a landing route, open an interactive map such as Fortnite.GG’s Battle Royale map and turn on its chest-spawn layer. Its legend identifies gold-outlined markers as locations with a 100% spawn rate.
Fortnite.GG is a third-party map, not an Epic Games source. Treat its markers as a guide to places to check, and confirm that the map reflects the island and playlist you are playing. A location marker tells you where a chest may be; it does not guarantee what item you will find inside.
Plan a route around markers and landing risk
When choosing between marked locations, consider how exposed the landing is and whether other players are likely to contest it. Those are tactical judgments, not verified rankings of the island’s safest or most rewarding spots. Check the current map and your match conditions rather than assuming an older route remains optimal.

Do Fortnite chests always spawn?
Not every chest marker should be treated as a guaranteed spawn. Fortnite.GG distinguishes gold-outlined locations in its legend as 100% spawn-rate points, but that is the map provider’s classification, not an Epic-published current spawn rule. The official sources cited here do not establish a standard Battle Royale chest spawn percentage for Chapter 7 Season 4.
Older patch notes describe different rules for particular modes and features. For example, Epic’s 2018 v4.4 notes for the limited-time Sniper Shootout mode reported a 75–90% chest spawn chance. That historical, mode-specific figure is not the current standard Battle Royale rate.

What loot do Fortnite chests give?
Chest contents depend on the active loot pool. Epic’s current Chapter 7 Season 4 material says the season brings a refreshed loot pool, but the official sources cited here do not provide an item-by-item distribution or probabilities for standard chests. Do not count on a particular weapon, rarity, or consumable appearing in an ordinary chest unless the current game or an up-to-date official source confirms it.
Epic’s Chapter 7 Season 4: Override island information and Fortnite Battle Royale support page describe seasonal location and loot changes. That is useful context for planning, but it is not a chest contents table.

How season and playlist changes affect chest guidance
Epic’s current season information confirms new points of interest and changes to the loot pool. Consequently, locations, routes, and item expectations from older guides may no longer apply. Before using a map or route, check that it is for the active island and the playlist you intend to play.
Playlist matters too: historical Epic patch notes show that limited-time modes have had their own chest behavior. A rule from one special mode should not be presented as the rule for standard Battle Royale.

These figures document older Epic updates; they are not current standard chest probabilities or contents.
