Corporate One Federal Credit Union’s Data Orchestration Hub is an integration layer that connects credit-union core systems to payment networks and other services without requiring a credit union to replace its core. For payments, it provides a shared connection to The Clearing House’s RTP network and the Federal Reserve’s FedNow Service, handling the core connection and transaction flows so participating credit unions can offer real-time payment capabilities through Corporate One.

What the Data Orchestration Hub does

A credit union’s core system holds essential account data and supports many of its daily operations. Connecting that system to a new payment network or service can therefore involve more than adding a feature: it may require coordinating with the core provider and building or maintaining integrations.

Corporate One’s hub sits between participating credit unions’ cores and external services. Its open framework is intended to connect different cores with vetted solutions, applications and member experiences. The credit union can retain its existing core while using the hub as an integration point for additional capabilities.

Corporate One EVP and CIO Prashanta Pradhan described the aim as connecting systems “that aren’t naturally connected” to build an ecosystem of services for members. The design is not a new core banking system; it is a layer for connecting existing systems to other services.

How the hub enables real-time payments

For a participating credit union, the hub handles the technical connection between its core and the relevant payment rail, as well as the transactions moving between them. Corporate One’s February 2023 description said its real-time payments service would facilitate ISO 20022 messaging between a credit union and the RTP network and, when available, the FedNow Service through a simplified API.

  1. A credit union connects its core to Corporate One. The hub provides the integration point rather than requiring each credit union to build the same direct connection independently.
  2. The hub routes payment messages to a supported network. Corporate One’s CIO case study reports connections to both The Clearing House’s RTP network and FedNow.
  3. The transaction moves across the payment rail. The hub manages the core connection and transaction flows. Pradhan summarized the arrangement this way: “All members must do is connect to us.”

That description concerns the technical connection. It does not mean every credit union or member automatically has access: a credit union must participate and make the service available, and a particular payment depends on the relevant institutions and network supporting it.

Which payment networks it connects to

Network What the sources establish about Corporate One’s connection
The Clearing House RTP network Corporate One’s timeline says CU Corporate Payments completed final testing and certification on RTP in November 2021. The CIO case study later describes the hub connecting multiple core solutions to RTP.
Federal Reserve FedNow Service The CIO case study describes the hub connecting core solutions to FedNow. Corporate One’s February 2023 CEO note described the planned technical connection for ISO 20022 messaging when FedNow launched.

Both are U.S. real-time payment networks, but they are separate services. Corporate One describes its hub as a way for credit unions to connect to these rails; the sources do not establish that every credit union on the hub uses both.

How the hub compares with other integration approaches

Approach What changes What it means for payment integration
Data orchestration hub The credit union retains its core and connects it through an integration layer. Corporate One’s stated model offers a shared connection point for supported cores and payment rails. It still requires onboarding and a core that can handle the resulting transaction activity.
Point-to-point integrations Systems are connected directly to one another. This can mean separate connections to maintain as services or endpoints are added. The Corporate One case study positions the hub as a way to connect systems that are not naturally connected, rather than describing a measured cost or time comparison with point-to-point work.
Core replacement The credit union changes its foundational banking system. A hub can add supported connections without making core replacement a prerequisite. It does not remove the need to address limitations in the existing core, as Corporate One’s first live rollout demonstrated.

The hub’s value is therefore architectural: it offers a reusable connection layer, not a guarantee that integrations will be effortless or that every core can process payments at the required speed.

Implementation history and partners

Corporate One says brainstorming for the hub began around 2017. Its official RTP timeline records a commitment in April 2019 to a real-time payment connection platform for the credit-union industry. Corporate One implemented the hub with technology consultant Xebia.

Date or period Milestone
Around 2017 Corporate One began brainstorming the data orchestration concept, according to the CIO case study.
April 2019 Corporate One’s RTP timeline records its commitment to a real-time payment connection platform for the credit-union industry.
October 2021 The timeline says the hub’s open payments-messaging and integration platform received a Payments Innovation Award for connecting credit unions, fintechs and digital-experience providers to RTP.
November 2021 CU Corporate Payments completed final testing and certification on the RTP network. The timeline identifies Juniper Payments as a strategic partner and early adopter building the solution, including its use as a unified payments module for correspondent financial institutions.

Xebia’s project page, updated March 24, 2026, describes the hub as a centralized platform for streamlining data flow between financial systems and payment networks, with operational efficiency and member experience among the project’s aims.

What Corporate One learned during rollout

The initial live implementation encountered a problem that testing had not exposed: transaction volume. The first member handled a high daily volume. After launch, transactions timed out because the core could not process them quickly enough, and rejection rates rose. Corporate One turned the hub off, addressed the core issue and tried again. The CIO case study says the original tests had not reproduced the scale of live transactions.

The episode shows why an integration test alone is not enough to establish production readiness. For a real-time payment rollout, testing needs to reflect expected transaction volume and the capacity of the core as well as the connectivity between systems. In this case, the hub could not compensate for a core that was too slow to handle the workload.

These are dated figures, not a 2026 membership total. The 2021 figure concerns the RTP Funding Agent Service, while the later figures describe onboarding and membership on the orchestration hub.

Who the approach may suit

The hub is most relevant to credit unions seeking access to real-time payment rails while keeping their existing core, and to financial institutions or service providers that need a connection across multiple core environments. Its practical fit depends on whether the institution’s core is supported and can handle production transaction volumes. Corporate One’s rollout account makes core performance a central readiness question, not a detail to assume the integration layer will solve.
