Anthropic makes money from Claude through paid individual and organization subscriptions, metered API usage, and enterprise arrangements. Customers can also access Claude through cloud platforms such as Amazon Bedrock, Google Cloud Vertex AI, and Microsoft Foundry. Those platforms are distribution and deployment routes; Anthropic has not disclosed how revenue is split across them or its direct channels.
How does Anthropic make money from Claude?
Its business combines recurring subscriptions, usage-based services, and sales-assisted enterprise offerings. The billing method depends on the buyer and how Claude is used.
| Route | Typical buyer | Billing basis | How it is delivered |
|---|---|---|---|
| Individual plans | Individual users | Free, Pro, or Max plan; paid tiers have different usage and feature allowances. Current prices and inclusions are listed on Anthropic’s pricing page. | Claude’s consumer product |
| Team plan | Organizations buying access for a team | Per seat; current terms are listed on Anthropic’s pricing page. | Claude organization plan |
| Enterprise | Larger organizations | Contact sales; the public pricing page does not state a universal Enterprise price. | Sales-assisted organization arrangement |
| Claude API | Developers and organizations building with Claude | Pay-as-you-go, based on usage; see Anthropic’s API information. | Direct API access or sales-supported onboarding |
| Cloud platform access | Organizations procuring or deploying models through a cloud provider | Not stated in the reviewed announcements; terms depend on the provider and arrangement. | AWS Bedrock, Google Cloud Vertex AI, or Microsoft Foundry |
The table describes the routes Anthropic identifies, not a price comparison: a meaningful cost comparison requires a particular model, usage level, contract, and date.
Does Anthropic charge businesses per seat or per use?
Both models exist. The Team plan is priced per seat, while API access is usage-based. Enterprise customers can pursue a sales-assisted arrangement rather than rely on a single public list price. Anthropic says its API sales support can include custom limits, monthly invoicing, prompting support, and deployment support.

For current individual and Team plan prices and inclusions, use the pricing page; for API access and sales support, consult Anthropic’s API page. Plan features, prices, and usage allowances can change.
Does Claude revenue come from AWS?
Claude is available through Amazon Bedrock, Google Cloud Vertex AI, and Microsoft Foundry, giving customers cloud-based routes to access or deploy it. Anthropic’s announcements establish these distribution options but do not disclose revenue shares, marketplace economics, or how much Claude revenue is attributable to any one provider. Cloud availability should not be confused with proof that a provider pays Anthropic a particular amount.

Anthropic’s April 20, 2026 announcement described collaboration with Amazon on infrastructure and said the company had more than $30 billion in run-rate revenue. That is Anthropic’s company-reported run-rate figure, not audited annual revenue; the announcement does not break it out by product or sales channel. Anthropic’s Amazon announcement also describes the relationship in terms of supporting capacity and demand.
How do enterprise services and partnerships fit?
Enterprise revenue is not limited to licenses or API calls. Organizations may need implementation and adoption support, and Anthropic has established partner and services routes around Claude.

Claude Partner Network
On March 12, 2026, Anthropic announced an initial $100 million commitment to its Claude Partner Network for partner training, technical support, and joint market development. This is investment in an enterprise partner ecosystem, not evidence of a publisher commission or consumer affiliate program. Details are in Anthropic’s announcement.
Enterprise AI services for mid-sized companies
Anthropic announced an enterprise AI services company with Blackstone, Hellman & Friedman, and Goldman Sachs, aimed at helping mid-sized companies adopt AI. This represents another delivery route for enterprise adoption; the announcement does not provide a Claude revenue breakdown. See Anthropic’s announcement.

What do Anthropic’s business figures show?
Anthropic’s announcements offer indicators of business scale, but they do not replace a channel-by-channel revenue disclosure.
- In its October 23, 2025 Google Cloud announcement, Anthropic reported more than 300,000 business customers.
- The same announcement said large accounts had grown nearly sevenfold over the prior year. Anthropic defined a large account as a customer representing more than $100,000 in run-rate revenue.
- In its April 20, 2026 Amazon collaboration announcement, Anthropic reported more than $30 billion in run-rate revenue. The announcement does not present this as audited annual revenue or divide it among subscriptions, API use, cloud access, and enterprise services.
These are company-reported figures, not a disclosure of how much each product or partner channel contributes. See Anthropic’s Google Cloud announcement for the customer and large-account figures.

Are cloud and compute partnerships revenue streams?
Not necessarily. Anthropic’s announcements with Amazon, Google Cloud, and SpaceX describe infrastructure, capacity, and scaling relationships. These arrangements help Anthropic train and serve models, but the announcements do not establish them as independent Claude revenue streams or reveal their financial terms. Treat them as infrastructure inputs and strategic relationships unless a source explicitly describes a customer payment or revenue share.
For example, Anthropic’s Amazon announcement discusses collaboration and infrastructure, while its Google Cloud announcement covers cloud capacity. Its SpaceX announcement likewise concerns compute capacity and scaling rather than a disclosed Claude sales channel.
What is not publicly established?
- How much Anthropic earns from individual subscriptions, Team, Enterprise, API usage, or each cloud provider.
- The revenue share or contract economics for Claude availability through AWS Bedrock, Google Cloud Vertex AI, or Microsoft Foundry.
- A single standard Enterprise price or a reliable total-cost comparison across subscriptions, API use, and cloud procurement.
- A publisher affiliate commission or tracked referral program tied to the Claude Partner Network.
So the clearest explanation is a mix of direct subscription and API revenue, sales-assisted enterprise business, and cloud-platform distribution, supported by a growing implementation ecosystem and major compute relationships. Public announcements show these routes and some company-reported scale figures, but not an audited breakdown of revenue by route.
