There is no universal winner, because the two names cover different kinds of product. For a first website, a blog, or a small business site with steady traffic, Hostinger’s shared hosting is the most direct fit. For a growing site or online store, Hostinger’s managed cloud plans are the closer match. Azure App Service is a managed platform for web and API applications, and its cost depends on the pricing tier, the number of instances, the region, and the other resources attached to it. Choose by workload, by how much server work you want to hand off, by how you expect to scale, and by what the full bill will look like over time.

Compare like with like

“Hostinger” is not one plan. It sells shared hosting, managed cloud hosting, and VPS (virtual private server) hosting, and each has a different owner of server maintenance. “Microsoft Azure” is a cloud platform with hundreds of services. The fair comparison is Hostinger’s web-hosting lines against Azure App Service, the Azure service aimed at websites and web APIs. Comparing Hostinger with all of Azure would mostly compare a website plan with infrastructure you would have to build yourself.

Option Intended use (per provider) Who handles server setup and maintenance How the price is set
Hostinger shared hosting (Premium) First websites, blogs, and small business sites with steady traffic Hostinger (managed) Monthly rate tied to a 48-month prepaid term
Hostinger managed cloud (Cloud Startup) Growing websites and stores Hostinger (managed) Monthly rate tied to a 48-month prepaid term
Hostinger VPS (KVM 1) Projects that need direct server control; Hostinger describes VPS as self-managed and requiring more technical skill You Monthly figure calculated from a prepaid two-year term
Azure App Service Web and API applications Microsoft runs the managed platform; you run the application Pricing tier, allocated VM instances, region, and connected resources

What Hostinger charges

Hostinger’s U.S. dollar pages headline monthly rates that apply only to a long prepaid term. The number you will pay after that term is usually much higher, so read the renewal price before deciding.

Shared hosting: Premium

Premium is listed with three websites and 20 GB of SSD storage. The page shows $2.99 per month on a 48-month term, with $143.52 paid upfront, and a renewal price of $10.99 per month. The monthly renewal is about 3.7 times the introductory rate. The page also describes a 30-day money-back guarantee.

Managed cloud: Cloud Startup

Cloud Startup is listed with 4 CPU cores, 4 GB of RAM, 100 GB of NVMe storage, and 10 web apps. The page shows $7.99 per month on a 48-month term, with $383.52 paid upfront, and a renewal price of $25.99 per month. The renewal is about 3.3 times the introductory rate. This is the plan to budget for if your site is likely to outgrow shared hosting.

VPS: KVM 1

Hostinger’s VPS page lists KVM-based plans paid upfront, with the monthly figure calculated from the term. The KVM 1 plan lists 1 vCPU, 4 GB of RAM, and 50 GB of NVMe storage, at a $6.49 per month introductory rate and $11.99 per month renewal for a two-year term. Because Hostinger describes VPS as self-managed, the price is only part of the cost. Patching, security updates, and troubleshooting become your job.

What Azure App Service charges

App Service has no single headline price. Microsoft’s U.S. English Linux App Service pricing page lists four plan families, and the cost of each depends on what you configure.

Plan family What the pricing page says Suitable for production?
Free (F1 on Linux) 60 CPU minutes per day and 1 GB of RAM; intended for trials, experimentation, and learning No. Microsoft says it is not supported for production workloads.
Basic Plan family listed; tier details and prices not stated on the pricing page reviewed Not stated on the pricing page reviewed
Premium Plan family listed; tier details and prices not stated on the pricing page reviewed Not stated on the pricing page reviewed
Isolated Environment Plan family listed; tier details and prices not stated on the pricing page reviewed Not stated on the pricing page reviewed

Microsoft states that the prices on that page are estimates, not quotes, and directs users to the Azure pricing calculator. Build your estimate there with your actual region, operating system, tier, and instance count before you commit.

The Azure bill is bigger than the App Service line

  • Dedicated App Service plans are charged by tier and by the VM instances allocated to the plan, so adding instances raises the cost even if the app itself does not change.
  • Other Azure resources and, in some cases, non-Microsoft services can appear on the same bill.
  • Microsoft recommends estimating costs before you add resources, then using cost-management features to set budgets and monitor spending.

As Microsoft’s own Learn documentation puts it, “Costs for App Service are only a portion of the monthly costs in your Azure bill.”

Management responsibility

This is often the deciding factor. Hostinger’s shared and managed cloud plans are maintained by Hostinger, so you work with the website and its content. Hostinger’s VPS hands you the server. Azure App Service is a managed platform run by Microsoft, but you still own the application code, its configuration, and the decisions about how it scales. If you have no one who can run a server, a VPS is the wrong choice regardless of price.

Performance and scaling

The plan specifications above are vendor-listed figures. No independent benchmark compares Hostinger’s plans with App Service, so this article does not claim that either one is faster, more reliable, or more scalable than the other. What can be compared is the scaling model. Hostinger’s plans are fixed bundles with set storage, cores, and memory. App Service scales by changing tier and instance count, which gives more control and makes costs more variable.

Which host fits which reader

A first website, blog, or small business site with steady traffic

Start with Hostinger shared hosting on the Premium plan. It is designed for this use, and its three-website and 20 GB storage limits are the constraints to check against your plans. You do not need to manage a server.

A growing website or online store

Look at Hostinger managed cloud on Cloud Startup. Its 4 cores, 4 GB of RAM, and 100 GB of NVMe storage give more room than shared hosting, and the renewal price of $25.99 per month should be part of your budget from the start.

A custom web or API application, or a team already on Azure

Azure App Service is the better fit. It gives you a managed platform for applications and room to scale, and it fits naturally if your team already uses Azure. Use the Free plan only to test. Estimate the production cost with the pricing calculator, including instances and the other resources you will connect.

A project that needs full server control

Hostinger’s KVM VPS plans are the Hostinger option for this, but only if you can handle server administration. Neither a managed shared plan nor App Service is a substitute for root-level control.

Pricing points to check before you buy

  • Hostinger’s U.S. pages show prices in U.S. dollars and exclude applicable taxes. Prices and offers can change, so check the current page before purchase.
  • Hostinger’s headline rates depend on a prepaid term. Compare the renewal price, not only the first-term rate.
  • Azure App Service prices vary by region, operating system, tier, and instance count, so a single “Azure price” is not meaningful.
  • Microsoft’s App Service pricing is described as estimates, and its plans page was last updated on 2026-08-24.
  • The Azure Free plan is for trials and learning, not production.

Decision checklist

  • Is your site a first website, blog, or small business site with steady traffic? Start with Hostinger shared hosting.
  • Is it a growing site or store? Compare Hostinger managed cloud, including its renewal price.
  • Are you building a web or API application, and does your team already use Azure? Estimate App Service in the Azure pricing calculator, including instances and connected resources.
  • Do you need root access to the server? Consider Hostinger VPS only if you can maintain it.
  • Have you confirmed the renewal price, currency, and tax treatment on the current official page?
