Druk op Windows-toets + R, typ gpedit.msc en druk op Enter. U kunt de Editor voor lokaal groepsbeleid ook openen via de zoekfunctie in Start. Windows 10 Home bevat deze editor niet.

- Druk op Windows-toets + R om het venster Uitvoeren te openen.
- Typ
gpedit.mscen druk op Enter.
Dit is de kortste route die Microsoft documenteert. Microsoft Support noemt ook zoeken vanuit Start.
Zoeken vanuit Start
- Open Start.
- Zoek naar Editor voor lokaal groepsbeleid.
- Selecteer het zoekresultaat om de editor te starten.
De exacte Nederlandse benaming kan per Windows-build verschillen.
Waarom wordt gpedit.msc niet gevonden?
Controleer eerst welke editie van Windows 10 op de computer staat. Volgens Microsoft is de Editor voor lokaal groepsbeleid niet beschikbaar in Windows Home. Als het commando niet wordt gevonden op een Home-computer, is die editie dus de relevante beperking.

Wat kunt u met de lokale editor beheren?
De Editor voor lokaal groepsbeleid is bedoeld om beleidsinstellingen voor de lokale computer te beheren; een wijziging daar verandert niet automatisch instellingen op andere computers in een netwerk. Microsoft onderscheidt dit lokale hulpmiddel van beheer via de Group Policy Management Console (GPMC), die is bedoeld voor centraal beheer van domeinbeleid.
De GPMC is opgenomen in Windows Server en Remote Server Administration Tools. Het wijzigen van domeinbeleid kan de juiste machtigingen vereisen. Microsoft Learn beschrijft de GPMC als geïntegreerde beheerconsole voor groepsbeleid.

Wees voorzichtig met beleidswijzigingen
Beleidsinstellingen kunnen het gedrag van Windows merkbaar veranderen. Microsoft adviseert dat alleen ervaren beheerders de editor gebruiken en wijzigingen zorgvuldig plannen en testen voordat ze in een productieomgeving worden toegepast. Open de editor dus alleen om instellingen aan te passen waarvan u de gevolgen begrijpt.
