The HMD Pulse Pro stands out for two documented features: HMD promotes a 50 MP selfie camera with gesture controls, and owners can access an iFixit-supported parts and repair-guide route. That makes it distinctive, but the available evidence does not establish whether it is affordable in your market or how well its camera, battery, and processor perform in everyday use.
Is the HMD Pulse Pro affordable?
There is no single price answer that holds across countries: HMD says availability varies by country, and its product page lists Germany, France, Italy, the Netherlands, and Belgium as unavailable. Check the price and stock for your country, and confirm the exact regional model before comparing it with other phones. HMD’s product page is the source for its current regional availability information.
Without a verified local price and independent performance testing, the Pulse Pro’s value for money cannot be settled from its specifications alone. Treat it as a candidate to compare in your market, not as a confirmed bargain.
What makes the Pulse Pro distinctive?
Selfie features
HMD describes the Pulse Pro as selfie-focused and advertises a 50 MP front camera and selfie gesture controls. Those are manufacturer claims about features, not evidence of image quality: no independent camera evaluation was available. Megapixel count alone does not establish how detailed selfies look, especially in difficult lighting. HMD’s product page describes the advertised features.

Repair access
HMD directs owners to its HMD Phones Repair Hub on iFixit for parts and step-by-step guides. The route is more concrete than a general promise of repairability: iFixit lists a genuine screen-and-frame assembly for Pulse Pro models TA-1588 and TA-1595 and identifies itself as an official HMD partner. The iFixit parts listing says the genuine HMD parts come through the official supply chain.
HMD’s launch release describes the range as having “Gen 1 repairability” and says users can replace a damaged display, bent charging port, or depleted battery with an iFixit self-repair kit. That is HMD’s characterization; it should not be read as proof that every repair is simple. HMD’s launch release sets out the manufacturer’s repair claim.

What does repairing the screen involve?
The screen replacement is a substantial repair, not a quick screen-only swap. iFixit’s guide instructs the repairer to transfer components from the original phone into the replacement assembly. It also says to let the battery drain below 25% before opening the device, warning that a charged lithium-ion battery may catch fire if damaged. Follow the complete guide and its safety steps before attempting the work. Read iFixit’s HMD Pulse Pro screen replacement guide.
No numeric HMD Pulse Pro repairability score is established here. iFixit notes that its scoring rubric changes over time, so scores from different years may not be directly comparable. The documented parts and guide support the claim that a repair route exists; they do not justify a quantified “highly repairable” rating. iFixit’s repairability methodology explains its scoring approach.

The page’s superscript qualification was not independently evaluated, so do not treat the figure as a guaranteed runtime. HMD’s product page carries the claim.

How long is software support?
iFixit’s device reference reports two letter OS upgrades and quarterly security updates for three years as the launch support commitment. That does not establish how much support remains for a phone bought now: verify the current policy and end dates for the specific purchase region before relying on it for a long-term buying decision. The iFixit device reference reports the commitment.
