To stop using an iCloud+ Hide My Email address, deactivate it: on an iPhone or iPad, open Settings > [your name] > iCloud > Hide My Email, select the address, then tap Deactivate Email Address. Deactivation stops that address from forwarding new mail to you, but it is reversible. Delete an inactive address only if you want permanent removal.
Deactivate an address on iPhone or iPad
- Open Settings and tap your name at the top.
- Tap iCloud, then Hide My Email.
- Select the address you want to stop using.
- Tap Deactivate Email Address and confirm if prompted. Apple says that after deactivation, the address no longer forwards emails to you. Mail sent to a deactivated address is returned to the sender. Apple Support’s iPhone guide
Other ways to deactivate an address
On iCloud.com
- Sign in to iCloud.com and open the iCloud+ Features page.
- Choose Hide My Email, select the address, then choose Deactivate email address.
- Follow the on-screen prompts. Apple’s iCloud instructions
On a Mac
- Open System Settings, click your name, then choose iCloud.
- Click Hide My Email and select the address.
- Choose Deactivate Email Address. Inactive addresses are available from Options, where you can reactivate or delete them. Apple’s Mac instructions
Deactivate or delete: choose based on whether you may need the address again

If you might use the address again, leave it inactive rather than deleting it. Deletion is a separate, permanent step.

If the address is missing, check how it was created
Addresses created with Sign in with Apple are managed separately from the regular iCloud+ Hide My Email list. On iPhone or iPad, open Settings > [your name] > Sign in with Apple, select the app or website, and review its settings. Apple says Hide My Email is available if you or someone in your Family Sharing group has an iCloud+ subscription. Its random addresses forward to a personal email account, and you can manage the forwarding destination in Hide My Email settings. This access information does not establish that you need to buy a new subscription to deactivate an address already listed in your settings.
