There is no single secret number that unlocks the same menu on every phone. Some handsets recognize special dialer codes, but what they do can depend on the phone model, software, dialer app, carrier, and region. And some “hidden” menus—such as Samsung Galaxy Developer options—are opened in Settings, not by dialing a number.
What happens when you dial a special code?
A phone may interpret certain character sequences entered in its dialer as diagnostic commands or service requests rather than ordinary phone numbers. Some may open a screen on the handset; network-related codes may instead interact with carrier services. Those behaviors are not interchangeable, and a code that works on one phone may do something different—or nothing—on another.
Secondary guides describe Samsung dialer codes as MMI codes and note that behavior can depend on the manufacturer’s software, carrier, SIM, dialer, Android build, and region. These are not official compatibility guarantees: Android Police’s Samsung code guide and SammyFans’ Samsung codes coverage discuss those qualifications. There is no authoritative, comprehensive cross-brand directory establishing which codes work on every current phone.
Samsung Galaxy Developer options are a Settings menu
If the menu you have in mind is Developer options, Samsung’s documented Galaxy instructions do not use a dialer code. The path is Settings > About phone > Software information > Build number. Tap Build number seven times; you may be asked to enter your security credentials. Developer options then appears in Settings. Samsung Canada’s instructions were last updated March 7, 2026: Enable Developer options on your Galaxy phone.

Samsung says screens and options vary by device and operating system. It also warns that Developer options are advanced settings, generally unnecessary for average users, not supported by Samsung, and may affect phone performance. The menu is not a universal Android secret-code screen.
Before trying a phone diagnostic code
- Identify the exact device: Check the model number and software version, not just the brand name. Instructions for one Galaxy or Android build may not apply to another.
- Check the dialer and carrier: The dialer app, SIM, carrier, and region can affect whether a code is recognized, especially when it involves network service.
- Know whether it is local or network-related: A diagnostic screen on the handset is different from a request that changes or checks a carrier service. Don’t enter a code if you cannot establish what it does.
- Prefer device-specific documentation: Verify the instructions for your exact phone and carrier. A list that labels a code “Samsung” or “Android” is not proof that it works safely on your model.
Why there is no universal “secret number”
Dialer codes are not one standardized menu shared across all phones. Manufacturer software, operating-system versions, carrier behavior, and region can change what a sequence does. Samsung’s official Developer options instructions verify one hidden Settings menu, but they do not establish dialer-code compatibility. Treat any code as device-specific unless documentation for your model and carrier confirms otherwise.
