Saber Interactive calls it the first-ever Hellraiser game: a new story in the films’ universe, not a direct sequel or adaptation. Here’s what’s confirmed about its story, platforms, release, and PC requirements.
What kind of game is Hellraiser: Revival?
Saber Interactive and Boss Team Games describe Revival as a single-player, story-driven survival-horror action game. Saber’s support FAQ specifies first-person play. Doug Bradley returns to voice Pinhead, a role he played in the films.
You play as Aidan, who is trying to save his girlfriend Sunny after she activates the Genesis Configuration, a mysterious puzzle box. The box is both central to the story and a gameplay element: Aidan must use its abilities while contending with Pinhead and a cult devoted to the Cenobites. The setup makes the puzzle box more than a visual reference to the films, though the available descriptions do not detail its specific mechanics.
Is the story connected to the Hellraiser films?
Revival takes place in the Hellraiser universe, but its plot is not directly connected to the films. Executive producer Nenad Tomic said the game draws on the atmosphere, themes, and mythology of the first two movies while telling a new story. He also said Clive Barker has been involved from the beginning.

The familiar elements include the Genesis Configuration, the Cenobites, and the series’ unsettling mix of pain and pleasure. Saber’s announcement describes Bradley’s return as Pinhead as the first in nearly two decades.
Was there a Hellraiser video-game series before this?
Not according to the official descriptions: Saber calls Revival the first-ever Hellraiser game. Clive Barker’s official games archive does list earlier games associated with him, but they are not Hellraiser titles.
