Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesFind Drivers →Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFix Now →Yes. SoftBank Group Corp. acquired Graphcore, and Graphcore announced the completed acquisition on July 11, 2024. Graphcore said it would continue operating under its own name as a wholly owned SoftBank subsidiary. The deal is not still waiting to close.
When did SoftBank acquire Graphcore?
Graphcore announced the acquisition on July 11, 2024, stating that SoftBank Group Corp. had acquired the company. SoftBank Group’s 2025 annual report also dates the acquisition to July 2024. The announcement is the completion point—not a notice that a future closing was expected.
Graphcore’s co-founder and CEO Nigel Toon described the deal as “a tremendous endorsement of our team and their ability to build truly transformative AI technologies at scale, as well as a great outcome for our company.” That was the acquired company’s assessment of the transaction.
Who owns Graphcore now?
Graphcore’s company page describes it as a wholly owned subsidiary of SoftBank Group Corp. A separate cross-check appears in the UK government’s Companies House record for Graphcore Limited: SoftBank Group Corp. is listed as the active person with significant control, with 75% or more of the shares and voting rights. That is the registry’s ownership threshold, not an exact share percentage.

Did Graphcore keep operating as Graphcore?
Yes. In its acquisition announcement, Graphcore said it would continue operating under the Graphcore name. Its current company page retains the wholly owned subsidiary description, and the site has continued publishing company updates in 2026. Those updates indicate ongoing activity; they do not change the acquisition’s 2024 completion date.
Was the purchase price disclosed?
The cited Graphcore announcement and SoftBank Group report do not state a purchase price. They confirm the acquisition and its timing, but do not establish a transaction-value figure. Estimates reported elsewhere should not be treated as a confirmed price based on these sources.
