Halo Studios has said it is developing multiple Halo projects, but the official material reviewed does not identify a separate Infinite follow-up, its story, or a release date. Meanwhile, Infinite’s major-update cadence may be winding down, although challenges, ranked seasons, and community events are planned to continue.
What is the next Halo game?
Halo: Campaign Evolved is the next specifically named Halo game in the announcements covered here. Xbox announced it on October 24, 2025, as a complete remake of the original Halo: Combat Evolved campaign, built in Unreal Engine 5 and planned for release in 2026. The announcement gives no firm launch day, so “planned for 2026” should not be treated as a confirmed date or proof that the game has shipped. Xbox Wire’s announcement and interview describe the project and its features.
How Campaign Evolved compares with Halo Infinite
| Question | Halo Infinite | Halo: Campaign Evolved |
|---|---|---|

The Infinite support outlook comes from Halo Waypoint’s Operation: Infinite Update Preview. It describes a current plan, not a guarantee that service details will never change.
What Campaign Evolved includes
Xbox says the remake rebuilds the original campaign in Unreal Engine 5, with updated visuals, animations, music, and voice lines. It also adds three prequel missions. These are announced features, not independent performance measurements.

Is Campaign Evolved Halo 7 or an Infinite sequel?
No. The announced project is explicitly a remake of Halo: Combat Evolved’s campaign, with additional prequel missions. The cited official announcement does not call it Halo 7 or position it as the next numbered mainline sequel. It does not establish a new story that follows Halo Infinite.

Halo Studios announced in October 2024 that multiple Halo projects were in development using Unreal Engine 5, without naming those projects in that announcement. Its “A New Dawn” statement also explained that Project Foundry was a research and training effort for building Halo in Unreal—not a game or conventional tech demo. The later Campaign Evolved announcement identifies one project, but the official material cited here still does not confirm a separate Infinite sequel’s title, plot, gameplay, or release date. That is a limit of what these announcements confirm, not proof that no other project exists.
What is known about Halo Studios’ plans?
In October 2024, the studio formerly known as 343 Industries announced its new name, its shift to Unreal Engine 5 for future Halo projects, and work on multiple games. The studio described Foundry as a way to learn what building Halo in Unreal requires and to train its development team. It explicitly said the effort was neither a game nor a tech demo.
Xbox Wire’s October 6, 2024 interview said the studio was not discussing exactly what the new games were and that a new Halo game was not imminent at that time. That was a dated statement about the situation in 2024, not a current forecast; Campaign Evolved was announced the following year. See the Xbox Wire interview for that original context.
Is Halo Infinite still getting updates?
Halo Waypoint says Operation: Infinite may be the last major update currently planned. The same support post says daily and weekly challenges, ranked seasons, and community events are expected to continue “throughout next year and beyond,” while Halo Studios shifts focus toward projects in development, including Campaign Evolved. Because that statement describes an operational plan that can change, check the official update post for the latest service details.
