For GTA VI’s announced launch, you need a PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X, or Xbox Series S. Rockstar says the game “Plays Best On PlayStation 5,” making PS5 the clearest choice if you want Rockstar’s stated preference. Xbox Series X|S are also officially listed platforms. The scheduled release date is November 19, 2026.
If you mean a future online mode, there is an important caveat: Rockstar has not specified a GTA VI Online mode or its requirements in the reviewed official materials. It also has not announced a Windows version or published GTA VI PC requirements. So there is no reliable GTA VI PC build to recommend yet.
Which platforms are confirmed for GTA VI?
Rockstar’s current platform information lists PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S for GTA VI, and gives November 19, 2026 as the release date. Xbox’s own listing independently gives that date and identifies the Xbox Series X|S family. Should I get a PS5, Xbox Series X, or Xbox Series S?
Choose PS5 if you want to follow Rockstar’s stated preference. Choose Xbox Series X if you want the higher-spec Xbox described in Microsoft’s specifications. Series S is also officially listed, but Rockstar has not detailed its GTA VI presentation or performance, so do not buy it on the assumption that it will deliver a particular resolution or frame rate.

The specifications are console hardware figures, not a prediction of how GTA VI will run. A larger TFLOPS number, memory capacity, or SSD does not by itself establish the game’s resolution, visual settings, loading time, or frame rate. When Xbox Series X makes sense

It is officially in the same Xbox Series X|S platform family Rockstar lists for GTA VI. Those facts make it a valid route for someone who prefers Xbox or already has an Xbox ecosystem; they do not prove that GTA VI will run at a specified setting or outperform its PS5 version.

What to weigh before choosing Series S
Series S is not an unsupported workaround: the official Xbox Series X|S listing includes it. Microsoft identifies its SSD capacity as 512 GB, compared with a 1 TB custom NVMe SSD for Series X. That storage difference is a practical factor if you keep several large games installed at once. Why GTA V’s PC requirements are not a substitute
GTA V is a separate game with its own published requirements. Reusing its minimum or recommended specifications as GTA VI requirements would turn information about one title into an unsupported claim about another. Even a PC that exceeds GTA V’s recommended specification has no confirmed GTA VI compatibility or performance guarantee on the evidence available here.

A console’s TFLOPS figure cannot be converted into a specific PC graphics card recommendation, and the console memory figures do not establish how much system RAM a future PC version may require. Is GTA 6 Online confirmed, and does it have separate requirements?
The wording “GTA 6 Online” should be treated as a question, not as a confirmed product name or announced mode. Rockstar maintains GTA Online as a separate service and continues to publish updates for it, but the reviewed official GTA VI materials do not announce or specify a GTA VI Online mode, its launch timing, or any separate requirements.
