Reports of a sudden drop in Grok Imagine video limits date to October 2025, but they do not establish that xAI cut one fixed quota for every account. xAI’s current guidance describes paid usage as a shared weekly pool across Grok products—not a universal daily video allowance. To see what applies to your account, open Settings → Usage.
What users reported about the October 2025 drop
In an article dated October 31, 2025, PiunikaWeb summarized user complaints that video generation limits were arriving sooner than before. The accounts it cited included users who said they reached a limit after 5–10 attempts or about 15 videos. Those are reports from individual users, not an official quota or a representative measurement. PiunikaWeb’s October 31, 2025 report said xAI had not officially acknowledged a change at that time.
A Reddit post about SuperGrok described some subscribers as going from 40–60 videos per day to 8–15 around October 15–20, 2025. Replies disagreed: some users said they could generate more or had not hit a video limit. The discussion documents a perceived change, but cannot establish how widespread it was, what caused it, or what limit applied to other accounts. Read the Reddit discussion.
What the current Grok usage policy says
xAI’s FAQ describes paid usage as one shared weekly pool across Chat, Imagine, Voice, and Build, rather than separate daily limits for each product. The FAQ describes this system as rolling out in June 2026, so account availability and displayed usage are more reliable guides than assuming every paid account has the same setup. See xAI’s Grok FAQ.
#1 Best Overall
Products draw different amounts from the pool depending on their compute use. The FAQ says the Usage view shows the percentage used, a breakdown by product, the reset date and time, and any Extra Usage Credits balance. It does not publish a fixed current number of consumer-app videos per day.
When the weekly pool is exhausted, paid features pause until reset. The FAQ says users can purchase Extra Usage Credits on the web, upgrade, or enable Auto Top Up. These options and their availability are subject to the account and the terms shown by xAI; they do not establish a permanent video quota.

How to check your remaining usage and reset
- Open Grok on the web or in the mobile app and go to Settings → Usage.
- Check the percentage used and the product breakdown to see how much of the shared pool Imagine has consumed.
- Read the displayed reset date and time. Use that account-specific schedule rather than assuming the limit resets at midnight or every day.
If the displayed usage seems inconsistent with your account activity, contact official Grok support. Older user estimates do not override the usage information shown in your account.
Why reported video counts can differ
- Usage is shared: Under the weekly-pool model described by xAI, activity across Grok products draws from the same allowance.
- Products consume different amounts: xAI says usage varies with the compute each product requires, so a video count cannot be inferred from a fixed number of chat requests.
- Accounts may not show the same state: The FAQ describes a rollout, and the account’s own Usage page is the appropriate place to check its current pool and reset schedule.
- Old reports are not current quotas: The October 2025 figures were user accounts, and no reviewed official source establishes a current app-wide daily video count.
A Reddit user also reproduced a purported xAI Support reply saying limits were dynamic and that moderated generations count. The message is not independently authenticated, so treat it as unverified context—not as current official policy or a reliable way to calculate remaining generations. Grok app limits are not API rate limits
xAI’s developer documentation lists API team limits in requests per second (RPS), separately from consumer Grok usage. Its current table lists 10 RPS at API Tier 0 for the grok-imagine-video and grok-imagine-video-1.5 models. That is an API request-rate cap, not the number of videos a Grok.com or mobile-app user can generate per day or week. Check xAI’s API rate-limit documentation.
xAI announced Imagine Video 1.5 on June 16, 2026, stating it was generally available through the Imagine API and that Video 1.5 Fast had rolled out on grok.com/imagine and mobile apps. The announcement confirms product availability at that time; it does not specify a consumer-app quota. Read xAI’s Imagine Video 1.5 announcement. The Console changelog later noted Video 1.5 in the playground and clearer moderation feedback in July 2026, but likewise did not publish consumer daily limits. See the xAI Console changelog.
