There is no verified graphics preset that is best for every PC in Gray Zone Warfare. Start with the game’s built-in benchmark, if it is available in your installed version, then adjust one setting at a time and compare image clarity and frame rate in the same location. GPU, resolution, upscaling mode, frame generation and game version all affect what works.
Start with the in-game benchmark
MADFINGER added an internal benchmark that suggests settings based on a player’s hardware in the November 2025 0.3.5.0 update. Treat its recommendation as a starting point, not a guarantee: the 0.4 updates later changed lighting and rendering behavior. Confirm the suggested profile in your current build and in the places where you actually play. MADFINGER’s 0.3.5.0 patch notes describe the benchmark addition.
- Run the in-game benchmark and apply its suggested profile, if the tool is present in your installed version.
- Choose a repeatable location and viewing situation. Compare the same scene after each change rather than relying on memory or changing several options together.
- Change one setting at a time. Check both frame rate and whether distant targets, foliage, and scope views remain clear.
- Record your game version, GPU, resolution, upscaling method and mode, and whether frame generation is enabled. These details make comparisons meaningful after updates.
No official source cited here establishes a universal best-settings list or guaranteed FPS increase for every graphics option. The practical goal is a stable profile for your hardware and the current game build.
Choose upscaling for your GPU and game version
Use an upscaling option that your GPU and installed game build support, then compare its available modes on your own system. MADFINGER’s May 1, 2024 performance guide advised AMD users to use FSR, Intel users XeSS, and NVIDIA RTX 40-series users DLSS. That is dated, generation-specific guidance—not a complete recommendation for every newer card or current version.

The rendering options have changed since that guide. Patch 0.3.5.0 updated the game to Unreal Engine 5.5 and AMD FSR 4; patch 0.4.5.0, released June 25, 2026, updated it to DLSS 4.5, including 6X and Dynamic Frame Generation for supported NVIDIA cards. Check the options actually shown in your current build rather than assuming an older guide’s menu or hardware advice still applies. The 0.3.5.0 notes and the 0.4.5.0 notes document those changes.
There is no controlled head-to-head evidence here proving one upscaler or mode wins across GPUs and resolutions. Compare clarity and frame rate, and also consider whether frame generation feels responsive enough and introduces visible artifacts in your play. A higher displayed frame rate alone does not establish that a mode is the better choice for you.

Separate graphics clarity from AI spotting distance
The experimental visibility widget added in patch 0.4.2.0 is an estimate of how far AI NPCs can spot your character. It is not a meter for how easily you can see enemies. MADFINGER wrote that “The distance at which AI NPCs can spot a player is determined by multiple factors and is now displayed in the top-left corner of the HUD.” The developer also warns that the readings can be inaccurate: some building shadows and lights are not reflected correctly, low vegetation reduces the reported distance too much, and readings can be wrong in certain biomes. Use it as an experimental indicator, not a reliable stealth guarantee. See the 0.4.2.0 patch announcement.
Some visibility changes are part of the game world, not player-adjustable graphics settings. Update 0.4, released March 31, 2026, included lighting improvements and reduced vegetation around Combat Outposts and key points of interest to improve visibility and combat clarity. It also fixed scope and lighting problems. Those changes can affect what you see regardless of your own graphics profile. MADFINGER’s Update 0.4 notes describe them.

Troubleshoot scope ghosting, dark images, and artifacts
If a scope looks unusually dark, blurry, or ghosted—or frame generation produces artifacts—first check that the game is updated and note which upscaling and frame-generation options are active. Official updates have fixed particular scope, night-vision, lighting, and frame-generation issues over time, including fixes documented in the 0.4 and 0.4.5.0 notes. That history does not mean changing one setting will cure every visual defect.
- Compare the same view with your current rendering options and one alternative supported by your hardware.
- Keep resolution and location constant while testing so you can judge whether the change improved the image or only changed performance.
- If the problem persists, note the game version and settings when reporting it; a defect may be build-specific rather than a sign that your whole graphics profile is wrong.
Consult the 0.4.5.0 notes for the DLSS 4.5 and frame-generation changes, and the 0.4 notes for scope and lighting fixes.

What performance updates and RAM requirements do—and do not—tell you
MADFINGER reported that patch 0.3.5.0 reduced VRAM use by about 400 MB and RAM use by about 2 GB “on all systems.” These are developer-reported changes from that update, not measurements of current memory use on your PC or a promise of the same result for every system. They should not be read as a present-day performance benchmark.
Steam lists 16 GB RAM as the minimum and 32 GB as the recommended memory specification for the game. Those published requirements do not prove that RAM is the cause of low FPS on a particular computer, or that adding memory alone will improve it. If your PC is below the recommended amount, check memory compatibility before considering an upgrade; if it already meets the recommendation, the cited specifications do not establish that a memory upgrade is necessary.
