Google released Android 17 QPR3 Beta 1 on October 2, 2026. It is a pre-release Pixel build focused on fixes for audio, camera, desktop-mode behavior, system UI, battery, eSIM, telephony and Wi-Fi—not a stable public Android update.
What Android 17 QPR3 Beta 1 includes
QPR3 Beta 1 is distributed through the Android Beta for Pixel program. Enrolled phones receive it over the air, but Google warns that beta software can contain errors and defects. The release notes describe a compatibility and bug-fix update rather than a benchmarked performance release; Google has published no benchmark or adoption figures for this build.

- Pixel 10, Pixel 10 Pro, Pixel 10 Pro XL, Pixel 10 Pro Fold and Pixel 10a
- Pixel 11, Pixel 11 Pro, Pixel 11 Pro XL and Pixel 11 Pro Fold
- Pixel Tablet series devices
Eligibility applies to the listed Pixel models and Pixel Tablet series; it does not make the beta available to non-Pixel Android phones.

Fixes in QPR3 Beta 1
The release notes call out fixes across several parts of the system:
Audio and Bluetooth
- Audio output switching while media is playing.
- LHDC v5 Bluetooth playback stopping unexpectedly.
Camera, calls and external displays
- Camera video rotating 90 degrees during video calls when an external display is used in desktop mode.
- Front-camera failure during screen recording.
- Call-service crashes after a reboot.
System UI and Settings
- Home-screen navigation UI problems.
- An unexpected mobile-data dot appearing in Quick Settings.
- Settings crashes on the battery page.
Connectivity, SIM and battery
- eSIM profiles reverting to an off state.
- Loss of cellular service after modem SIM-slot errors.
- Wi-Fi failing to reconnect in the background.
- Excess idle battery drain when Flip to Shh is enabled.
How to install Android 17 QPR3 Beta 1
- Back up locally stored photos, files, messages and authenticator data. Beta enrollment and rollback can involve a device wipe.
- Open Google’s Android Beta for Pixel program and enroll an eligible Pixel signed in to the Google account you want to use.
- On the phone, open Settings > System > Software updates and check for an update.
- Download and install the over-the-air update when Android 17 QPR3 Beta 1 appears. Keep the phone charged and connected to Wi-Fi during installation.
- After the reboot, verify the build under Settings > About phone > Android version. Pixel 11-series phones should show DP11.260918.005; other covered devices should show DP11.260918.006.
Because this is beta software, install it on a device you can tolerate troubleshooting rather than on a phone that must be dependable for work, travel or emergency communication.

Can you leave without wiping the phone?
Normally, opting out of the Android Beta for Pixel program sends a downgrade update that removes the beta and wipes locally stored data. Back up before enrolling or opting out.
The limited no-wipe exception
People who were already enrolled in an Android 17 beta before QPR3 Beta 1 can opt out and decline the QPR3 Beta 1 downgrade update. They can then wait for the public Android 17 QPR2 release without installing the downgrade, avoiding the wipe in this specific transition. Installing QPR3 Beta 1 removes that safe-exit option: leaving afterward can require the data-wiping downgrade.

If your phone is affected by one of the listed bugs and you can accept beta risk, QPR3 Beta 1 offers a targeted fix set. If reliability and a simple rollback matter more, stay on the stable channel and wait for the corresponding public release.
