If Google Meet’s background blur is missing or won’t apply, select Blur in Meet’s background and effects controls, then check whether your account and device can use effects. If the Logitech video itself is out of focus, troubleshoot the camera feed separately: confirm the selected camera and permissions, test it in another app, and check its USB connection.
First, identify which kind of blur is failing
“Blur” can mean two different things in Meet. Background blur is a software effect that softens what is behind you. A blurry camera image means the Logitech webcam’s picture is out of focus or otherwise unclear. Meet’s background effects and camera troubleshooting are separate controls, so follow the matching steps below.
Turn on Google Meet background blur
- Before joining: In the meeting preview, open the background or effects control below your self-view and choose Blur.
- During a meeting: Open the background and effects panel or video settings, then choose Blur. Depending on the desktop interface, Meet may also offer slight blur and a control to remove effects.
Google’s Meet background and effects instructions describe these controls for desktop. The available effects depend on the client, account, and Workspace administrator settings.
If the blur option is missing or unavailable
Check the client, account, and administrator policy
Google states: “The availability of backgrounds, filters, and styles are subject to client type, account type, and settings set by Google Workspace admins.” If you use a work or school account, ask your Workspace administrator whether backgrounds and effects are allowed. The option’s absence does not by itself mean the Logitech webcam is defective.

Check browser and device support
Update your browser and close unused tabs or apps, then reopen Meet and check the effects controls again. Google notes that visual effects can affect device performance and provides technical requirements for Google Meet and WebGL troubleshooting guidance. These are useful checks when effects are slow or unavailable, but they do not establish the cause on a particular computer.
If the Logitech camera picture is blurry
Confirm Meet is using the Logitech webcam
In Meet’s video settings, choose the Logitech camera rather than a built-in camera or another connected device. Check that your browser and operating system have permission to access the camera. Close other apps that may be using it, then reload Meet. Google’s camera troubleshooting steps cover these checks.

Test the camera outside Meet
Open another camera or video-call app and check the picture there. If it is blurry in more than one app, the problem is less likely to be a Meet background effect and more likely to involve the camera, its connection, or system access. If it looks clear elsewhere, return to Meet’s camera selection and permissions.

Logitech recommends connecting a webcam directly to the computer rather than through a USB hub or extender. Disconnect and reconnect it, try another USB port, and test it in another application; if possible, test it on another computer. See Logitech’s webcam image and video troubleshooting guidance.

What Logi Tune can—and cannot—fix
Logi Tune provides controls for supported Logitech webcams. It may be useful for camera settings, but Logitech’s cited guidance does not say it enables Google Meet’s background blur. Use Meet’s own effects controls for background blur, and use Logitech camera controls only when adjusting the webcam itself.

Do not replace a webcam just because Meet’s Blur effect is missing; that effect is controlled in Meet and may be restricted by client, account, or administrator settings. Consider hardware support or replacement only if testing points to a camera problem—for example, the image remains blurry in other apps or on another computer after checking the connection. The steps above do not establish that any particular Logitech model is required for Meet blur.
