Google’s Gemini app for Windows is available from gemini.google/desktop. Download and run GeminiSetup.exe, open Gemini from the Start menu, then sign in with a Google Account. Once it is installed, press Alt + Space to open it quickly.
What you need to install Gemini for Windows
Google’s current requirements are:
- Windows 10 or later
- At least 8 GB of RAM
- At least 200 MB of available disk space
- A stable internet connection
- A personal Google Account, or a work or school account for which the administrator has enabled Gemini
Google’s September 10, 2026 launch announcement described availability on Windows 10 and 11; its current help page specifies Windows 10 or later. See Google’s Gemini app for Windows help page for the current requirements.
How to install and sign in
- On your Windows PC, go to gemini.google/desktop.
- Download
GeminiSetup.exe. - Open the downloaded file and follow the installer’s on-screen instructions.
- Open Gemini from the Windows Start menu.
- Sign in with your Google Account.
How to open Gemini with Alt + Space
Press Alt + Space on the Windows desktop to bring up Gemini. Google documents this shortcut in its Gemini Windows help page and Windows launch announcement.
If the shortcut opens a search interface instead, check which Google application is installed. The separate Google app for desktop is a Search product that also uses Alt + Space. Google documents that app’s search, Drive, screen-sharing, and Lens features separately; they should not be assumed to be features of the Gemini Windows app. See Google’s Google app for desktop help page.

What you can do in the Gemini app
Google says the Windows app can help you:
- Ask questions and get answers
- Draft ideas, outlines, and full pieces of content
- Summarize articles, documents, and web pages
- Brainstorm
- Get coding assistance
- Upload images for analysis
Google’s launch announcement also describes access to Google apps such as Gmail and Drive, image creation with Nano Banana, and video creation with Gemini Omni. Access to Gemini Spark and Gemini Omni requires a Google AI subscription, and availability varies. These capabilities therefore may not be available to every user or account.
