Google Cloud announced a redesigned partner program in December 2025, then described the Google Cloud Partner Network as live by April 2026. The plan replaces the earlier Partner Advantage framework with tiers, separate competency measures, more outcome-focused recognition, and automated Hub tools. Google has not publicly stated the detailed thresholds or individual partners’ transition status.
What Google Cloud announced
On December 16, 2025, Google Cloud introduced the Google Cloud Partner Network for partners of all types and sizes, including independent software vendors (ISVs), regional systems integrators (RSIs), and global systems integrators (GSIs). Google framed the redesign around three pillars: simplicity, outcomes, and automation. Its stated goal was to shift recognition away from program activity and traditional requirements such as business plans and customer stories, toward contributions across the customer lifecycle. That lifecycle can include pre-sales influence, co-innovation, post-sales support, successful co-selling, service delivery, and shared innovation with ISVs. Google also said that partner skills, practical experience, and successful customer outcomes would count. These are the program’s announced design goals; the announcement did not establish that they have produced measured results.
How tiers and competencies are designed
Three partner tiers
Google announced three tiers: Select, Premier, and Diamond. It described Diamond as a new, intentionally selective distinction for partners that consistently deliver exceptional outcomes across Google Cloud and Google Workspace. The announcement did not publish the requirements or thresholds for any tier.

Competencies separate from tier status
The announced competency framework would replace the existing specializations and assess partners across two dimensions:
- Capacity: Knowledge and skills development validated through technical certifications and sales credentials.
- Capability: Real-world success, including pre-sales and post-sales contributions to validated closed/won opportunities.
Google said competencies would be assessed independently of tier status. An Advanced Competency would represent a higher designation within the framework.

What the Hub is intended to automate
Google said the Partner Network Hub would track tier and competency achievements and apply successful customer engagements across eligible progress categories, reducing duplicate reporting. The December 2025 announcement forecast a Q1 2026 rollout and a six-month transition window beginning with the official kickoff. It did not provide exact transition dates for each partner or confirm any partner’s account-specific standing.
What changed by April 2026
By April 23, 2026, Google Cloud President of Global Ecosystem Kevin Ichhpurani was describing the Partner Network as the company’s new partner program. In a Google Cloud Next update, the company also outlined agentic tools in the Hub: (Google Cloud’s April 2026 update)

Google also announced a $750 million innovation fund intended to accelerate agent development and deployment, alongside partner training, technical development, and deployment incentives. The announcement does not establish that every partner qualifies for funding or a particular payment. A Google Cloud Partners post likewise said the Partner Network and Hub were live, but a general launch announcement does not establish an individual partner’s eligibility or account status. How the redesign differs from Partner Advantage
Google’s public descriptions indicate a change in emphasis and structure, but do not provide enough information for a threshold-by-threshold comparison with Partner Advantage.

What partners should check in their own account
The public announcements describe the program’s direction, not every operational rule. Partners should use the current Partner Network Hub to check their own status, applicable requirements, and transition details. In particular, Google’s public material does not establish exact current tier or competency thresholds, a partner-specific transition deadline, or a guarantee that an earlier designation carries over unchanged.
