AWS remained the largest cloud infrastructure provider in Synergy Research Group’s Q3 2025 estimate, with 29% of worldwide spending. Microsoft held 20% and Google Cloud 13%. Those latter figures were unchanged in the rounded comparisons with Q2 2025 and Q3 2024; Synergy describes Microsoft and Google as gaining share over a longer period.
What were the leading cloud providers’ shares in Q3 2025?
Synergy Research Group estimated that AWS had 29% of worldwide cloud infrastructure services spending in Q3 2025, followed by Microsoft at 20% and Google Cloud at 13%. The estimates measure revenue or spending share within Synergy’s defined market, not the share of all software, IT spending, or cloud workloads.

What does “AWS lowers, Microsoft and Google stay same” mean?
AWS’s rounded share was down one percentage point from Q2 2025 and two points from Q3 2024. Microsoft and Google Cloud were level in both of those specific comparisons. “Stay same” describes the recent rounded figures, not a multi-year pattern: Synergy says Microsoft and Google have gained share over the longer term.

Small quarter-to-quarter changes are difficult to interpret in isolation in a market of this scale. Synergy Chief Analyst John Dinsdale said that examining how positions evolved over several years is more revealing than focusing on minimal quarterly shifts.
How large was the cloud infrastructure market?
Synergy estimated worldwide cloud infrastructure service revenue at $106.9 billion in Q3 2025, with trailing-12-month revenue of $390 billion. The market grew 28% year over year after adjustment for major currency fluctuations. Revenue increased by more than $7.5 billion from the previous quarter; Synergy described the sequential increase as a record.

Within the narrower public IaaS and PaaS segment, Synergy reported 30% year-over-year growth and said the three leading providers held 67% of the segment. That 67% figure uses a different denominator from the 63% combined share of enterprise spending on the broader cloud infrastructure services market.
Why do the three providers’ shares add to 62%, not 63%?
Synergy reported the combined share of Amazon, Microsoft, and Google as 63% of enterprise spending on cloud infrastructure services in Q3 2025. Adding the separately rounded provider figures—29%, 20%, and 13%—gives 62%. The difference reflects rounding; the reported combined estimate should not be silently replaced with the sum of the rounded individual values.

Synergy’s combined-share series was 63% in Q3 2025, compared with 62% four quarters earlier and 61% four quarters before that.
What does Synergy count as cloud infrastructure services?
Synergy’s market measure covers worldwide revenues for infrastructure-as-a-service (IaaS), platform-as-a-service (PaaS), and hosted private cloud. Public IaaS and PaaS account for most of the broader measure. It is not a tally of every cloud product: software-as-a-service and all IT spending are not part of the stated definition.

Synergy linked market growth to strong demand, including generative AI. Dinsdale said GPU-as-a-service revenues were growing by more than 200% per year. That growth rate refers to GPUaaS, not to the entire cloud infrastructure market.

Omdia’s measure includes bare-metal-as-a-service (BMaaS), container-as-a-service (CaaS), and serverless in addition to IaaS and PaaS. Its scope and methodology differ from Synergy’s, so the market totals and provider shares are not directly interchangeable. For a useful comparison, keep the analyst, market definition, quarter, comparison period, and denominator attached to each number.
