GFiber’s Core 1 Gig plan is listed at $70 per month for advertised speeds up to 1 Gbps both up and down. GFiber says the plan includes a Wi-Fi 6E router, installation, Wi-Fi and unlimited data, with no annual contract. The offer is appealing for households that can get it and want symmetrical gigabit service, but the advertised price excludes taxes and a local access fee, and actual speeds depend on your address, equipment and connection.
What does GFiber Core 1 Gig cost and include?
GFiber’s current plan page lists Core 1 Gig at $70 per month. The company describes the plan as offering speeds up to 1 Gbps for both downloads and uploads. GFiber’s product article, dated February 23, 2026, says installation, Wi-Fi and unlimited data are included, and that there is no annual contract. GFiber’s current plan page and its Core 1 Gig plan article are the best places to confirm terms before ordering.
- Monthly price: $70, plus taxes and a local access fee.
- Equipment: A Wi-Fi 6E router is listed, and the plan description says one mesh extender may be provided as needed. Equipment and features can vary by address. GFiber also says customers may use their own router.
- Data and installation: Unlimited data and installation are included, according to GFiber’s Core plan article.
- Contract: GFiber advertises no annual contract.
When service is canceled, GFiber says supplied equipment must be returned within 60 days; otherwise, an equipment replacement fee, including applicable taxes, may apply. Check the company’s plan terms for the return process and current conditions.
How fast is GFiber internet in practice?
“Up to 1 Gbps” is the advertised maximum in each direction, not a promise that every device will measure 1 Gbps. Equal advertised upload and download ceilings are often called symmetrical speeds. Actual results can vary with the device, router, Wi-Fi conditions and where you test. GFiber identifies equipment as one factor affecting speed in its Broadband Facts explainer.

- Each nest Wi Fi router provides up to 2200 square feet of fast, reliable Wi Fi coverage for your home. [1]
For a useful first check, connect a computer to the Fiber Jack or router with Ethernet and run a speed test. GFiber says a wired connection can provide the fastest possible result. If you report or compare a result, note whether it was wired or Wi-Fi, the device used and its location. A wireless reading in one room should not be treated as a definitive measure of the fiber connection itself. This review does not claim a firsthand test or a representative independent speed or reliability figure for the plan.
Is GFiber available at your address?
Availability is address-specific: a city or state where GFiber operates does not mean every home there can be connected. Enter the exact service address in GFiber’s availability checker before treating the plan as an option. GFiber says availability, pricing and some features vary by location; its FAQ explains how to check. The company’s Atlanta page, for example, notes that parts of a market can still be under construction: GFiber in Atlanta.

Is $70 a month worth it for 1 Gig internet?
It can be a strong fit if GFiber serves your home and you value fast uploads as well as downloads, included equipment, unlimited data and a straightforward plan without an annual contract. Gigabit service is especially useful when several people work, game, stream or transfer large files at once, although the benefit depends on your devices and usage.
Whether it is a good deal locally depends on the full bill and the alternatives actually available at your address. Compare plans using the same criteria rather than headline download speed alone:

GFiber says its $70 price has been unchanged since 2012; that is the company’s historical pricing claim, not an independently verified comparison. Local availability and the all-in cost matter more than assuming the same value for every household.

GFiber Core 1 Gig is an attractive, uncomplicated gigabit option on paper: $70 per month before taxes and a local access fee, advertised symmetrical speeds up to 1 Gbps, and substantial inclusions. The main reasons to pause are whether your address qualifies and how the total price compares with serviceable alternatives. Treat speed as an advertised ceiling, and use a wired test if you need to assess performance.
