Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors2Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute3Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsIf Gemini won’t generate an image, first check whether you’re signed in and whether your account, country, and language are eligible. Then try a more explicit prompt. A missing image option or rejected request doesn’t automatically mean your device is faulty; Google lists account availability and policy restrictions among possible factors. If the checks below don’t explain the problem, report it through Gemini Apps Help.
1. Make sure you’re signed in
Google lists image generation among the Gemini features unavailable when you’re signed out. Sign in to Gemini Apps, then try the request again. Google’s sign-in help describes which features require an account.
2. Check whether image generation is available for your account
Image generation availability can depend on supported countries and languages, age requirements, and whether you’re using a personal or work or school account. Google’s image-generation and editing help page describes the current conditions. Check that live page for the requirements that apply to your account and location; feature eligibility can change.
- Country and language: Google says, “This feature’s availability in any specific Gemini app is also limited to the supported languages and countries of that app.”
- Age: Google’s page distinguishes the age requirements for generating images from those for editing them. Use the current requirements there rather than relying on older advice.
- Work or school account: Access may differ from personal-account access, and the applicable terms may differ too.
If the image option is missing, check these conditions before treating the issue as a device problem.

3. Give Gemini a clear image-generation prompt
Google recommends starting with an action verb such as “draw,” “generate,” or “create,” then describing the image’s style and concrete visual details. Include the subject, what it is doing, and the background or setting.
For example: “Create a watercolor illustration of a red fox sitting beside a small stream in an autumn forest, with fallen leaves in the foreground.”

A request that clearly asks for an image and describes what should appear gives Gemini more direction than a vague instruction such as “make something nice.”
4. Check whether the request was blocked by policy
Gemini may reject a request or remove an image if its systems detect a possible violation of Google’s Terms of Service, including the Prohibited Use Policy. If a particular request is rejected, review the request against the applicable rules rather than assuming the failure is a technical fault. For work or school accounts, terms may differ.

5. Report a failure that these checks don’t explain
If you’re signed in, appear to meet the current eligibility requirements, and have tried a clear prompt, use the Gemini Apps Help Center to find the problem-reporting route. Google’s reviewed help pages don’t promise a universal workaround for unexplained image-generation failures.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. What about clearing cache, using a VPN, or reinstalling?
People in community discussions sometimes suggest opening a new chat, clearing the cache, or temporarily disabling a VPN. Those suggestions are anecdotal, not verified general fixes. Google’s help pages do not establish that these steps—or reinstalling Gemini—will resolve image-generation problems generally. The same applies to buying a paid plan: Google notes that paid-plan availability applies to certain image features and higher-resolution downloads, but that does not establish that upgrading fixes ordinary generation failures.
