The Bilefrog-Kalona error reported for Gears of War: E-Day was not a frog-related gameplay bug: it was a split-screen online-services sign-out that could happen after suspending and resuming the game. GameSpot reported on October 5, 2026, that a patch addressed that scenario alongside fixes for campaign progression, Horde Siege, Versus, performance, and the user interface.
What is the Bilefrog-Kalona error?
According to GameSpot’s October 5, 2026 report, the error could affect a split-screen player who was signed out of online services after the system was suspended and the game resumed. The report mentions Quick Resume as one way a player might return to the game. The patch notes reproduced by GameSpot say this scenario was addressed.
The name refers to the subterranean Locust frogs in the game, which attack with stomach acid. Despite the dramatic name, the reported issue was an online sign-out—not a specific attack or encounter involving a frog.
What else did the patch address?
GameSpot reproduced fixes and improvements across several parts of the game. The following list reflects that report; no official Coalition patch-notes page was located to independently confirm the details.
