Choose Horde Siege if you want cooperative PvE missions, class progression, and coordination with other squads. Choose Versus if you want 4v4 PvP matches built around equal starting loadouts, map control, and Power Weapons. If you are undecided, Versus Social or Player vs Bot playlists offer a way to learn maps and modes; Horde Siege has mission options of different lengths.
Is Horde Siege co-op, and how many players can play?
Horde Siege is E-Day’s cooperative PvE mode. It brings 12 players together as three squads of four on one large map. Each squad takes on its own mission, while optional objectives and shared encounters can give squads reasons to cooperate—or compete for resources and rewards. Xbox Wire’s multiplayer overview describes the 12-player, three-squad structure.
Players select classes with different combat roles and equipment. Missions can ask a squad to secure, calibrate, repair, or defend a R.I.G., or to survive ten waves focused on a single R.I.G. Optional secondary tasks can yield Weapon Parts, equipment, and squad buffs. Energy is shared, but players decide individually how to spend it at Supply Caches. Extraction matters: a squad must extract successfully to keep the Weapon Parts it collected during the mission. The Coalition’s multiplayer deep dive details these mission and progression systems.
How long are Horde Siege missions?
The Coalition estimates Blitz missions at around 15–20 minutes, Siege missions at around 20–40 minutes, and Horde missions at up to 50–60 minutes. These are developer-provided estimates, not independently measured averages; actual time can vary with play and mission progress.

Is Versus PvP?
Yes. Versus is the competitive player-versus-player mode. Every Versus mode is 4v4; players start with the same loadout weapons and equipment, and weapon mods are disabled. The Coalition says its Versus modes are designed around fair starts and balanced gameplay. Teams then compete through coordination, decisions, map position, and control of Power Weapons. Versus launches with four core modes and six new maps, according to the developer’s deep dive.
Team Deathmatch
Eliminate the opposing team’s lives. Respawn locations change dynamically, so teams must adjust as the fight moves around the map.

Conquest
Occupy and defend zones. Teams score by holding them for enough time, making positioning and coordinated defense central to a round.
Demolition
Carry a neutral bomb to an enemy site and plant it. The attacking team must defend the planted bomb without respawns; three detonations win.

Carry a Power Core into a moving, shrinking zone and defend it to score. The shifting scoring area changes where teams need to fight and hold ground.

Which mode should beginners try first?
There is no single best beginner mode; it depends on what you want to learn. For map layouts and Versus objectives without immediately facing only human opponents, start with Player vs Bot. Versus Social is another option for learning the flow of competitive modes. Choose Horde Siege if you would rather learn through cooperative objectives, class roles, and squad coordination.

Both modes use E-Day’s updated movement and cover mechanics, but they put them to different uses: The Coalition describes Versus as tighter battles and Horde Siege as broader flanks and arenas. Its gameplay update explains that shared foundation and contrast.
What to know about access and launch content
The Coalition’s editions page lists Xbox Series X|S and PC, and says Game Pass Ultimate or PC Game Pass can provide access. Online multiplayer may require a Game Pass subscription tier that includes online multiplayer, so check the current terms for your platform and region before subscribing. See the official editions and platform page.
The August 2026 open beta included only a subset of the game’s launch content; beta availability should not be taken as a complete list of launch modes or maps. The Coalition’s beta FAQ distinguishes the beta from the full launch offering.
Ranked availability is time-sensitive: a Windows Central report published September 30, 2026 said Versus Ranked was scheduled to begin October 13, 2026. Check current in-game or official information for whether that schedule changed. Read the dated schedule report.
