That variety matters if the hand-to-hand encounters in Sleeping Dogs were your favorite part. 3. Is Mafia: Definitive Edition better for a focused crime story?
Yes. Mafia: Definitive Edition is the clearest choice when a carefully authored gangster narrative matters more than martial arts, free exploration or a large activity map.

The perspective is fundamentally different from Wei Shen’s. You are following a gangster’s rise and the loyalties, compromises and violence that come with organized crime, not an officer infiltrating a triad. That makes the family and period setting the main attraction. Missions are shaped around the plot’s escalation, with less emphasis on dropping into unrelated street fights or creating your own citywide routine.
Do not expect a replacement for Sleeping Dogs’ melee system. The appeal here is the script, atmosphere and progression of a mob drama. Driving and gunplay support the campaign, but martial-arts choreography and environmental takedowns are not the organizing principle. 4. Is Grand Theft Auto IV the best serious driving alternative?
Pick Grand Theft Auto IV if the part of Sleeping Dogs you most want back is driving through a serious urban-crime story. It is less suitable if your defining requirement is martial-arts combat.
