If you want stealth, tense exploration, and psychological horror, start with Amnesia: The Bunker. It is the closest match here for being hunted and managing survival under pressure. Choose SOMA instead if story, atmosphere, and exploration matter more than stealth mechanics. Neither is a substitute for SILENT HILL: Townfall; they overlap with different parts of its design.

What kind of game is SILENT HILL: Townfall?

SILENT HILL: Townfall is a full-length, self-contained psychological horror game set in Scotland in 1996. Konami lists PlayStation 5 and PC as its platforms, and announced a September 24, 2026 release date. That date has passed as of October 7, 2026. Screen Burn Interactive developed the game, with Konami and Annapurna Interactive as co-publishers. Konami’s Townfall page and its September 2026 release announcement provide those details.

Konami describes it as the Silent Hill series’ first fully first-person psychological horror title. The developers have discussed stealth and combat as parts of its design, so “stealth-focused” should not be read as “combat-free.” A handheld CRTV lets the player view video signals as well as hear audio; the developers say they explored how those signals could serve both narrative presentation and stealth. PlayStation Blog also reports that puzzles were developed alongside the story to tie them to the world and its inhabitants. The Steam listing describes a dynamic soundtrack that reacts to player and enemy actions, including stealth. See the PlayStation Blog discussion and Townfall’s Steam listing.

Best games to try if you want Townfall-like stealth horror

Amnesia: The Bunker First-person horror, stealth, exploration, and resource pressure Stealth and evasion are prominent; the available store description does not establish how much direct resistance the game allows. Exploration is listed; a specific puzzle-to-story approach is not established by the cited store description. Survival and resource management are listed features.
SOMA First-person psychological atmosphere, narrative, and exploration Not established as the closest stealth match by its cited store description. Story-rich and atmospheric are listed descriptors; the cited description does not establish Townfall-style puzzle integration. Exploration is listed; comparable resource-management pressure is not established by the cited store description.

Amnesia: The Bunker: the closest pick for stealth and survival pressure

Choose Amnesia: The Bunker if what appeals to you most is moving cautiously, avoiding danger, and making limited resources count while you explore. Steam lists it as first-person horror and tags it for stealth, survival, resource management, exploration, and psychological horror. That combination makes it the clearest recommendation for the hunted, evasive side of Townfall’s first-person horror direction. It does not establish that the games share a story, puzzle design, or pacing.

SOMA: the stronger choice for story and atmosphere

Pick SOMA if you want first-person psychological unease, a story-led experience, and exploratory discovery more than close stealth similarity. Frictional Games’ Steam listing describes it as science-fiction horror and includes the tags psychological horror, atmospheric, story-rich, first-person, and exploration. Those are meaningful overlaps with Townfall’s psychological and narrative aims, but the cited listing does not make it the stronger choice for stealth or survival resource management.

Which game should you choose?

  • Choose Amnesia: The Bunker if you want stealth, evasion, and resource-driven survival pressure to take priority.
  • Choose SOMA if narrative atmosphere and exploration are your main reasons for seeking psychological horror.
  • Keep your expectations specific: these recommendations match individual features, not Townfall’s complete story, setting, or mechanics.
