Control Resonant is no longer a game you have to wait for: Remedy says it launched worldwide on September 24, 2026. If you are still looking for games like Control—or want something to play after the sequel—the safest starting points are other Remedy games. The available official information confirms their studio connection, but does not establish that their gameplay matches Control feature for feature.

Should you play Control before Control Resonant?
It is the natural place to start if you want the original story and setting, but Remedy says it is not a requirement for the sequel. Co-creative director Mikael Kasurinen wrote, “You don’t need to have played the first Control to experience Resonant,” in a PlayStation Blog feature.
Remedy describes CONTROL Resonant as a sequel and a new entry point, with Dylan Faden at the center of a supernatural crisis in a warped Manhattan. Its official description presents it as an action-adventure RPG. The studio’s announcement described a larger, more open adventure intended for returning and new players.

Control Resonant release status and platforms
Remedy’s current official game page says CONTROL Resonant is out now for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, PC via Steam and Epic Games Store, and GeForce NOW. Remedy’s launch announcement gives September 24, 2026 as its worldwide launch date. The Mac version is listed as following later in 2026, rather than as available now.
If you are choosing what to play after the sequel’s release, the same recommendations apply: pick Control for the direct series connection, or choose an Alan Wake game or Quantum Break to explore Remedy’s other catalogue titles. The official sources establish those studio connections, not detailed one-to-one gameplay matches.
