Tom’s Guide reported on October 6, 2026, that Amazon had cut the price of the 256GB Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra from $2,099 to $1,699 during Prime Day. That is a $400 difference between the listed prices. The deal is dated: check Amazon’s live listing for today’s price, configuration, stock and eligibility before buying.
Is the Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra really $400 off?
According to Tom’s Guide’s October 6, 2026 report, Amazon listed the 256GB Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra for $1,699, down from $2,099. The rounded prices equal a $400 reduction; the report described the saving as over $400. 9to5Toys’ coverage that day gave approximately the same figures: about $1,700 instead of $2,100.
These are prices in dated US deal coverage, not confirmation of a current offer. The reports do not establish whether the listing is still live, whether inventory remains, when the promotion ends, or which shoppers qualify. Confirm the product is the 256GB model and review the final checkout price and terms.
How does the regular Galaxy Z Fold 8 compare?
Tom’s Guide also reported the standard Galaxy Z Fold 8 at $1,549, reduced from $1,899; 9to5Toys reported about $1,550 versus $1,900. On those reported sale prices, the regular model was $150 less than the Ultra. The comparison below reflects the coverage, not an independent specification check.

| Displays | Tom’s Guide describes larger inner and cover screens | Presented by Tom’s Guide as the more compact option |
| Camera | Tom’s Guide says it includes a telephoto camera | Camera configuration not stated in the cited deal coverage |
The display and camera distinctions above are attributed to Tom’s Guide; the material available here does not independently verify them against Samsung documentation or establish measured camera quality. The practical choice in that report is between the Ultra’s described larger screens and telephoto camera, and the standard Fold 8’s lower reported price and more compact form.
What about the “iPhone Duo” comparison?
The headline’s “Forget iPhone Duo” framing is not a like-for-like buying comparison. The cited deal reports do not provide an Apple price, an official Apple product specification, a confirmed availability date, or hands-on test results for an iPhone alternative. They therefore do not establish that the Fold 8 Ultra is a better buy than an Apple device. Compare confirmed products and current retailer prices before making that decision.

What to verify before ordering
- Open Amazon’s current listing and confirm the exact model and 256GB capacity tied to the reported Ultra price.
- Check the price shown at checkout, stock status, delivery details and any eligibility conditions; the October 6 reports do not settle those details for a later purchase.
- Compare the standard Fold 8’s current price if a lower cost or the more compact form described by Tom’s Guide matters more than the Ultra’s reported display and camera differences.
Tom’s Guide’s article includes an affiliate disclosure: “When you purchase through links on our site, we may earn an affiliate commission.” That disclosure is useful context, but it does not verify Amazon’s current price or sale terms.
