The Fujifilm X100V is a compact, photography-first camera built around a 26.1-megapixel APS-C sensor, a bright fixed 35mm-equivalent lens, dedicated controls, and a hybrid optical/electronic viewfinder. It is an appealing everyday or street camera if you like composing with one consistent angle of view. Its main compromises are just as fundamental: the lens does not zoom, the camera has no image stabilization, and its video is better suited to short clips than long takes.
What the Fujifilm X100V offers
Fujifilm specifies an approximately 26.1-million-effective-pixel APS-C X-Trans CMOS sensor measuring 23.5 × 15.6 mm, paired with a fixed FUJINON 23mm F2 lens. That lens gives a 35mm-format-equivalent field of view of 35mm. The combination is designed around a familiar, moderately wide perspective rather than a range of focal lengths. Fujifilm’s X100V specifications list the sensor and lens details.

RTINGS’ review, updated August 11, 2026, describes the X100V’s image and build quality as impressive and its hybrid viewfinder as a distinguishing feature. It considers the camera suitable for enthusiast photographers seeking an all-in-one carry or street camera; those are reviewer assessments, not guarantees of results for every photographer. The review also describes good RAW detail and dynamic range, with more moderate noise handling as ISO rises. Read RTINGS’ X100V review.
How the fixed lens shapes the experience
The 23mm lens is permanently attached, so there is no optical zoom. A 35mm-equivalent view works well for many street scenes, travel, everyday photography, and environmental portraits: it includes context without being as wide as an ultra-wide lens. It can also encourage a consistent way of seeing and composing.

- Great photography every day, everywhere -X100V features a newly designed, incorporated 23 millimeter F2 lens, ensuring you preserve those special moments at maximum resolution with minimal distortion. It also offers an improved close focusing performance compared to previous X100 models, and, for the first time in the X100 line, you can keep making images even in the toughest conditions when you attach the optional adapter ring with the weather-sealing protection lens (sold separately). This outstanding lens retains the same slim line design as other X100 models, so it retains compatibility with existing WCL and TCL lens attachments.
- Designed for quality and speed - From fleeting holiday moments and family celebrations to hard-hitting visual stories and ever-changing city streets, X100V has been designed to always deliver exceptional image and video quality. Creating a tool this capable takes powerful technology; That’s why Fujifilm’s state-of-the-art X-Trans CMOS 4 sensor and X-processor 4 combination sits at this camera’s core. Pairing this exceptional, 26.1MP, back-side illuminated sensor and powerful quad-core CPU results in incredible quality, wide dynamic range, lightning-fast processing and precision AF performance, right down to -5EV.
- Two ways to see an Image -To truly convey the magic of a scene, you need to be immersed in the moment and X100V’s advanced hybrid viewfinder gives you everything you need to do exactly that. At the flick of a switch, you can change between the X100V’s 0.52x magnification optical viewfinder (OVF), which uses parallax-correcting frame lines to let you see outside the shot, and it’s 3.69M-dot OLED electronic viewfinder (EVF), which gives you a real-time preview of your exposure. You can even get the best of both worlds by using the electric rangefinder function (ERF) to activate a mini EVF display within the OVF window.
- Frame the perfect image -X100V has been specifically tailored for photographers who are never without a camera by their side and always ready to frame a moment. The two-way, tilting LCD touchscreen is a perfect example of Fujifilm’s tailored design. This new technology within the X100V offers quick, intuitive controls and makes struggling to frame images from difficult angles a thing of the past. Furthermore, when folded flat it fits seamlessly into the camera’s slim line body, and in doing so, this sophisticated LCD touchscreen finds the perfect balance between functionality and portability.
The tradeoff is practical. If you often photograph distant wildlife, sports, stage performances, or details you cannot approach, the X100V cannot frame those subjects more tightly by zooming. You can move closer when safe and appropriate, or crop later, but neither is a substitute for a longer lens in every situation. Consider a zoom compact or interchangeable-lens camera if changing focal length is central to your photography. RTINGS likewise identifies the fixed lens as a limitation for distant subjects.
Viewfinder, screen, and handling
The X100V has a hybrid viewfinder that can switch between optical and electronic viewing. Fujifilm specifies an optical finder with approximately 0.52× magnification and roughly 95% frame coverage. Its frame lines show the photographed area while leaving a view beyond the frame, which can help you anticipate movement entering the composition. The electronic finder is a 0.5-inch OLED panel with 3.69 million dots. The rear monitor is a 3-inch, 1.62-million-dot tilting touchscreen. Fujifilm’s specifications provide these display figures.
The OVF and EVF suit different ways of working: the optical option provides a direct view of the scene, while the electronic option shows an electronic preview. RTINGS notes that the camera’s ergonomics may feel cramped, so try the grip and controls in person if you have larger hands or prefer a substantial grip. The tilting screen is useful for high- or low-angle framing, but it does not change the fixed lens’s field of view.

- Movies on the move: The X100V allows you to explore a whole new world of image making with the ability to create stunning 4K video at 30 frames per second. Additionally, super slow-motion footage can be recorded using the camera’s full HD/120p setting, so you can relive details that would otherwise be missed by the naked eye. This professional-level quality is backed up by Fujifilm’s outstanding color reproduction technology and unique selection of in-camera film simulation modes, while those who need more fidelity can record 10-bit, 4:2:2 color via the HDMI port.
Image stabilization and everyday shooting
The X100V has no image stabilization, according to RTINGS. This matters most when shooting handheld in dim conditions or recording moving footage: camera movement can blur still photos at slower shutter speeds, and handheld video can look shaky. A bright F2 maximum aperture gives you more light-gathering flexibility than a slower lens, but it does not stabilize the camera or freeze subject movement. If stabilization is a priority, compare the X100VI, which adds in-body image stabilization, or another camera that meets your needs.

Video: capable for short clips, constrained for long takes
Fujifilm lists MOV/H.264 recording to an SD card at 4:2:0 8-bit and HDMI output at 4:2:2 10-bit, with frame rates including 29.97P, 25P, 24P, and 23.98P. RTINGS reports that 4K recording is available up to 30 fps, but internal 4K clips are limited to 10 minutes and the camera can overheat during extended recording. The X100V also lacks stabilization, which is relevant for handheld footage. RTINGS’ review covers the recording-time and heat observations; Fujifilm’s specifications list recording formats and output details.
That makes video a useful extra for short clips or occasional B-roll rather than a strong reason to choose the camera for long-form work. If your priorities are extended takes, stabilized handheld shooting, or newer video options, compare newer hybrid cameras, including the X100VI.

Fujifilm X100V vs. X100VI
The X100VI is the X100V’s successor. RTINGS’ comparison identifies a higher-resolution sensor, updated autofocus, in-body image stabilization, and 6.2K recording among the newer model’s additions. Both retain a similar built-in lens concept, so the core decision remains whether you want a fixed 35mm-equivalent view or greater lens flexibility from a different camera. See RTINGS’ X100V and X100VI comparison.
| Consideration | X100V | X100VI |
|---|---|---|
| Lens approach | Fixed 23mm F2 lens; 35mm-equivalent field of view | Similar built-in lens approach, according to RTINGS |
| Sensor and autofocus | Approximately 26.1 million effective pixels; RTINGS identifies no X100VI-style autofocus update | Higher-resolution sensor and updated autofocus, according to RTINGS |
| Stabilization | No image stabilization, according to RTINGS | In-body image stabilization, according to RTINGS |
| Video | 4K up to 30 fps; RTINGS reports a 10-minute internal 4K limit and overheating during longer recording | 6.2K recording, according to RTINGS |
| Current price and value | Not established; varies by market and used-camera condition | Not established; check current local pricing |
The X100V can still make sense if its specific shooting experience suits you and you find a well-kept camera at a price you consider reasonable. The available evidence does not establish current prices or a universal value winner, so compare actual local listings rather than assuming the older model is automatically the bargain.

Availability and buying a used X100V
Fujifilm Imaging Systems’ notice dated February 20, 2024 said X100V sales in Japan would end as the company transitioned to the X100VI. That notice is specific to Japan; it does not establish current stock or discontinuation status in every other market. Availability, used prices, and seller terms vary, so check local listings before deciding. Read Fujifilm Imaging Systems’ Japan sales-ending notice.

When assessing a used example, verify the camera’s condition and the seller’s terms rather than relying on a listing title or photos alone.
- Check the lens glass, body, screen, finder, buttons, dials, and touchscreen for damage or signs of unreliable operation.
- Ask to test the camera if possible: confirm it powers on, focuses, records a photo to a card, and plays the image back.
- Check what is included, especially the NP-W126S battery and charger, and confirm return terms and seller reputation.
- For weather protection, do not treat the camera as waterproof. RTINGS describes it as partially weather-sealed and says full lens weather-sealing requires Fujifilm’s AR-X100 adapter ring and PRF-49 protection filter. See RTINGS’ weather-sealing notes.
Cards, battery, and firmware
The X100V has one SD card slot compliant with UHS-I and supports SD, SDHC, and SDXC media. Fujifilm specifies the rechargeable NP-W126S battery. Choose a compatible card and battery; the camera’s UHS-I interface is the relevant card specification, so do not assume a faster card interface will make the camera operate beyond that support. Fujifilm’s X100V specifications list supported media and battery.
Fujifilm’s US support page lists firmware Ver. 3.01. Its update details say the update from Ver. 3.00 fixed a bug that could leave the lens at the near-end position on power-up and a rare pairing-registration issue that could freeze the camera. Check your installed version and follow Fujifilm’s current instructions before updating. Check Fujifilm’s X100V firmware page.
Quick Recap
Who should buy the X100V?
- It may suit you if you want a compact camera for everyday, travel, or street photography; enjoy composing with a single 35mm-equivalent view; and value dedicated controls and the hybrid finder.
- Look elsewhere if you need optical zoom, routinely photograph distant subjects, rely on image stabilization, want long internal 4K takes, or find compact controls uncomfortable.
- Compare the X100VI if stabilization, updated autofocus, higher resolution, or 6.2K recording would materially improve how you shoot.
