La Poste Groupe was hit by a distributed denial-of-service (DDoS) attack beginning on 22 December 2025. The attack made online services, including parcel tracking, unavailable at times, but postal deliveries continued with some disruption. La Poste said customer data was not affected. The attack returned in a reported wave on 1 January 2026 and continued into early January, according to a later executive account.

What happened to La Poste?

La Poste confirmed on 22 December 2025 that a denial-of-service incident was blocking access to its online postal services. Its Global Security Director, Philippe Bertrand, later identified it as a DDoS attack: a flood of connection attempts intended to overwhelm online systems and make them unavailable. The attack affected services such as parcel tracking, rather than stopping the postal network altogether. La Poste’s incident updates described service changes over the following days.

Was La Poste hacked, and were customer details stolen?

La Poste said the attack did not affect customer data. Bertrand said it caused no system intrusion or data leaks. La Banque Postale separately said its banking core remained operational and was neither accessed nor altered. These are assurances from the organizations, not an independently published forensic assessment; the incident was reported as a DDoS attack, not a confirmed data breach. Bertrand’s January 2026 account and La Banque Postale’s account describe the organizations’ findings.

Could customers track parcels, and did deliveries stop?

Online services and parcel tracking were degraded or unavailable at points. La Poste said home delivery was disrupted at the outset, but deliveries continued. Its timeline described delivery as proceeding normally from 23 to 26 December.

La Poste reported that 5.5 million parcels were distributed from the morning of 22 December through 24 December, including 2 million on 24 December. In a January 2026 interview, Bertrand said 180 million parcels were delivered during the holiday season, in line with forecasts. These figures describe different periods and come from La Poste’s own accounts. The incident timeline and Bertrand’s interview provide the details.

How long did the attack last, and how large was it?

The attack began on 22 December 2025. La Poste’s timeline recorded another wave on 1 January 2026, while Bertrand later said it lasted until early January. The organization reported improvement and service restoration during 24–26 December, so the initial recovery did not mean the threat was over.

Officials published different peak traffic figures, which should be kept separate:

WiFi Router Cover E.M.F Protection Signal Shielding(14IN x 15.5IN)
  • FOR OUR HEALTH: The radiation emitted by the router seriously endangers our health. Prolonged exposure to it with high frequencies may cause headaches, loss of memory, sleep disturbance, and more. Many studies link radiation to a host of other sicknesses and neurological problems. So We need radiation shielding bags to protect our families from harmful radiation.
  • QUALITY MATERIALS: The radiation shielding wifi cover is made of Copper/ Nickel/Polyester Fiber which is certified to provide 99.999%protecting across the frequency range of 10KHz to 3GHz and still over 99.6% effectiveness at 5.6GHz. This fabric has good conductivity and a shielding effect.
  • PAY ATTENTION: The WIFI router radiation cover is made of high-quality copper-nickel material. When exposed to air for a long time, it will naturally oxidize, and the surface color will appear as spots and turn black. It will not affect its function and shielding efficiency, it just shows the authenticity and high quality of the material.
  • BIG SIZE: The router cover measures 14” x 16”, suitable for both Wifi routers with or without antenna and for most types of routers in the market. Our protective bags have Velcro at the seal. You are able to better enclose your router. we suggest wrapping the entire router when you are sleeping or outside. Please note, that the cover is not advised to wash

Was the September 2026 La Poste outage the same attack?

No. RTL reported that on 15 September 2026, an IT incident interrupted services in post offices. La Poste told RTL it was not a hacking incident; a source told the broadcaster an overnight update had not completed. Online services and ATMs remained available. The reported date, scope, and cause distinguish that office-service interruption from the December 2025–January 2026 DDoS attack. RTL’s report covers the later incident.

What can organizations learn from the response?

La Poste’s account emphasizes continuous monitoring, rapid protective action, coordination, and continuity planning. La Banque Postale’s account adds practical response measures: filtering malicious traffic, isolating it, and relying on backup infrastructure while specialists work on the incident. These are response themes described by the organizations, not a comparison of DDoS vendors or a recommendation for a particular provider.
