They look like competing canvases, but they solve different problems.
What each option is designed to do
Fraimic is a wall display for art and photos
Fraimic is a physical E Ink canvas, not a shared workspace for live editing. You upload an image, convert it for the display, and manage images, albums, or slideshows. The manufacturer lists a Standard model with a 13.3-inch Spectra 6 E Ink display in a 14 × 18-inch frame and a Large model with a 31.5-inch display in a 24 × 36-inch frame. See Fraimic’s product page for current specifications and availability.
The product page describes cordless operation, portrait or landscape orientation, a removable frame, remote management, a REST API, and Home Assistant integration. Fraimic says basic uploading, cropping, albums, slideshows, and frame management are free. Voice-to-Vision AI artwork is optional; the manufacturer FAQ says accounts receive 100 creation credits replenished yearly, with additional credits or an annual membership available. These are vendor-stated features and terms; check Fraimic’s FAQ for current details.
For Voice-to-Vision, the manual describes tapping the mat, speaking a prompt, then tapping again; processing is described as taking approximately one minute. That is manufacturer documentation, not an independently measured result. See the Fraimic user manual.

Microsoft Whiteboard is another software option. Microsoft Support says it works with a mouse and keyboard, screen reader, touchscreen, or pen, including Surface Pen and a stylus. A stylus is only relevant if you already have, or plan to use, a compatible touch device; it is not required for mouse-and-keyboard use. See Microsoft’s Whiteboard support page.
Compare them by the work you need to do
Choose by purpose and interaction
| Question | Fraimic Canvas | Digital whiteboard |
|---|---|---|
| What is it for? | Displaying artwork or photos on a framed E Ink screen. | Creating and working on shared ideas, diagrams, plans, or workshop materials. |
| How do you interact with it? | Upload and convert an image for display; optional Voice-to-Vision can generate artwork. | Edit a software canvas and use collaboration features with other participants. |
| What changes hands? | A selected image or display configuration. | A working board that participants can develop together. |
Fraimic’s product information and FAQ support the display and image-management use case; FigJam’s and Miro’s product pages describe collaboration and planning features. A shared visual surface is the main overlap, not shared editing capability.

Consider how often the display needs to change
Fraimic’s FAQ says an image must be converted before display and that refresh takes seconds. It also says an unchanged static image consumes no power and that Standard battery life can generally last at least three years, depending on refresh frequency. These are manufacturer claims, not independent battery or refresh testing. A rapidly changing presentation or live workshop is therefore a better fit for an interactive software board than for Fraimic’s image-display workflow.
Match team features to your existing tools
If your group already works in Figma, FigJam may fit naturally; its page emphasizes templates and integrations. Miro’s pricing page highlights a broader integration set and paid-plan tools for structured workshops and processes. Compare the features your team actually needs—such as board limits, exports, voting, or integrations—against the current plan details rather than choosing on the word “whiteboard” alone.

What the cost models mean
Fraimic is an upfront hardware purchase. When its product page was accessed in 2026, it displayed $399 for Standard and $1,299 for Large; those displayed prices and availability can change. FigJam and Miro offer free tiers as well as user- or member-based paid plans. The figures below are the vendors’ displayed terms accessed in 2026, not a guarantee of current pricing:
| Option | Displayed plan or model terms | Important qualification |
|---|---|---|
| Fraimic Standard | $399 | Product-page price accessed in 2026; confirm current price and availability. |
| Fraimic Large | $1,299 | Product-page price accessed in 2026; confirm current price and availability. |
| FigJam | Free tier: three editable files and unlimited collaborators; paid plans start at $3 per user per month. | Terms shown on FigJam’s official page when accessed in 2026; check the page for current plan details. |
| Miro | Free tier: three editable boards; Starter: $8 per member per month; Business: $20 per member per month. | Starter and Business prices are billed yearly; pricing page accessed in 2026. Verify current prices, features, and regional suitability. |
Do not compare a one-time display purchase directly with a team subscription without considering how many people need access, how long they will use the software, and which paid features they require. The appropriate whiteboard plan depends on the group’s account, region, and workflow.

Which one should you choose?
- Choose Fraimic if the goal is a changing framed art or photo display that stays visible in a room, and you do not need people to edit a shared board together.
- Choose FigJam if you want a collaborative canvas for brainstorming, alignment, planning, or workshops, especially if your team already uses Figma.
- Choose Miro if your team needs a collaborative board and values the integrations, exports, or workshop and process features listed for its plans.
- Choose Microsoft Whiteboard if you want a software whiteboard that can be used with a mouse and keyboard, accessibility tools, or a compatible touchscreen and pen.
If your needs span both jobs, they can coexist: use Fraimic to display a finished image or visual, and a software board for the active work that produces it. The deciding question is whether you need a wall display or a working surface shared by participants.
