An SBC may be the more convenient route if you already have suitable Player Items and the reward is worth submitting them. Objectives may take less extra effort when their tasks fit matches or modes you already plan to play. Compare the specific requirements, time, expiry, reward, and resources required before choosing.
How SBCs and Objectives work
Squad Building Challenges
An SBC asks you to submit a squad that meets its listed conditions. Those can include squad rating, chemistry, player quality, league, nation, or club. Some SBCs have one challenge; others have multiple challenges with individual rewards and a group reward, and some can be repeated. Check all requirements, the reward, repeatability, and expiry before submitting. EA Help’s FC 26 SBC guidance says: “Player Items you submit are permanently removed from your Club, and EA Advisors can’t restore them.”
Objectives
Objectives can be tied to seasons, campaigns, Evolutions, Live Events, Gallery progress, and other activities. EA describes daily, weekly, season, dynamic, foundation, milestone, mastery, and gallery objectives. Tasks may award Season Points or other rewards; their conditions and duration depend on the individual Objective. The Campaign Hub tracks relevant campaigns and objectives, and the in-game listing provides expiry information. Season Points advance Season Pass reward levels, and the Season Pass can include content for multiple supported game modes. See EA’s Ultimate Team Objectives guidance.
Compare the actual effort and cost

This is a practical decision framework based on EA’s published mechanics, not a measured head-to-head comparison of completion times. “Easier” might mean fewer matches, less menu work, lower item cost, less disruption to your squad, or simply a reward you can reach more reliably. Decide which of those matters to you, then compare the listings.

Choose the route that fits your situation
Choose an SBC when your Club already has the right items
Review the full squad requirements and the reward before committing. An SBC can save time if your Club contains eligible items, but those items are permanently removed when submitted. If you need to buy players, include that cost in your decision rather than treating the challenge as free.
Choose an Objective when its tasks fit your planned play
Read every task, including any mode, player, or action conditions. An Objective that progresses during matches you already expect to play may require little additional effort; one tied to an unfamiliar mode or specific activity may not. Check its time limit and reward before starting.

Why live listings matter
Requirements and rewards change, so neither category has a permanent difficulty level. The official sources describe how the systems work but do not establish which exact SBCs or Objectives are live for every account on a particular date. Check the in-game listings immediately before deciding, and compare the current requirements, rewards, and expiry.
Past campaigns show why it is useful to check each event on its own terms. EA’s June 2026 Journey of Nations materials reported over 250 challenges for that event and described tokens earned through Rivals, Squad Battles, Rush, Live Events, selected Objectives, and selected SBCs. This is a dated example, not a current challenge count or a description of a live program; see EA’s June 2026 update. Separately, EA’s February 20, 2026 Fantasy FC announcement described a competition in which “every win unlock[s] a new one,” illustrating that some event-linked paths depend on match results.
