Authorities disrupted Archetyp Market, a dark-web drug marketplace, during coordinated actions in June 2025. Eurojust said the operation led to eight arrests, including the marketplace’s creator and current administrator, who was arrested in Spain.

Which drug marketplace was taken down?

The marketplace was Archetyp Market. Eurojust announced the disruption on 16 June 2025, describing Archetyp as one of the longest-running dark-web marketplaces for drugs. It had operated for more than five years, according to Eurojust’s account.

Europol says enforcement actions took place from 11 to 13 June 2025 in Germany, the Netherlands, Romania, Spain and Sweden, with support from the United States. The six-country operation involved around 300 officers and targeted the administrator, moderators, key vendors and the servers running the site.

Who was arrested?

Eurojust reported eight arrests in total, including Archetyp’s creator and current administrator, who was arrested in Spain. Authorities identified the administrator as a German national living in Spain, but the official releases do not name the person. The releases report arrests; they do not establish guilt or provide later court outcomes.

How many users did Archetyp have, and how much did it trade?

Eurojust reported that Archetyp had more than 600,000 users, around 3,200 vendors and around 17,000 listings online. It put the value of drug transactions at at least EUR 250 million. These are figures reported by Eurojust in 2025, not independently audited totals; the reported number of users should not be read as a confirmed count of customers.

Eurojust also said authorities seized assets worth EUR 7.8 million. Its release described Archetyp as among the few dark-web platforms that permitted listings for fentanyl and other synthetic opioids.

What did authorities say about the operation?

Eurojust’s 16 June 2025 press release said: “By taking Archetyp offline, authorities have dealt a severe blow to drug traffickers in Europe.” No individual speaker is named for that sentence.

Eurojust and Europol describe a coordinated disruption spanning countries and targeting the marketplace’s infrastructure and key roles. Their public releases establish the announced operation and arrests, but do not name the administrator or document subsequent legal proceedings.
