What is different in Enlightenment 0.27.1?
Enlightenment 0.27.1 followed on March 14, 2025. Unlike the broad 0.27.0 summary, its official release notice lists specific fixes, including:
- Handling zero sizes or counts in CPU-frequency applet startup conditions.
- Allowing mouse-wheel input on the mixer and capping reported battery health at 100%.
- Improving memory handling for DBus menus and the system tray, including bad unrefs.
- Cleaning up screen-blank blockers during shutdown and stopping the EFM file monitor when a directory closes.
- Additional signal-handler log information, null-action binding lookup, hiding client-menu keyboard shortcuts when no desktop is present, and restoring the Valgrind option.
The 0.27.1 notice identifies these as maintenance fixes; it does not describe them as a new set of desktop features.

What EFL version does Enlightenment 0.27 require?
Enlightenment 0.27.0 requires EFL 1.28.0 or newer. The official 0.27.0 notice lists EFL and libexif as build dependencies, and libpam on Linux.
Other components are optional integrations for particular capabilities, not universal requirements. The release note recommends connman for network configuration, bluez5 for Bluetooth configuration and control, bc for calculator mode in the Everything module, PulseAudio for audio device control and redirection, PackageKit for update monitoring and updating, udisks2 for removable storage, and ddcutil for backlight control. It also notes that gdb can provide automatic crash backtraces when Enlightenment is built with debugging enabled.

How can you get Enlightenment 0.27?
Enlightenment’s download page says source tarballs are the project’s canonical releases; distributions and individuals package them for operating systems. The page lists 0.27.1 as the latest Enlightenment source release, alongside EFL 1.28.1. Those upstream listings do not establish which version is available for any particular Linux distribution.
- Check your distribution’s package manager or software repository for its Enlightenment package and version.
- Read the distribution’s installation and support notes, including which EFL version its package uses.
- If you intend to build from upstream source, use the project’s release downloads and verify the required dependencies for the version you choose.
There is no single installation command that applies across distributions: package names, repositories, versions, and installation steps are set by each distribution.
